Current plans for current circumstances are to work in the garden whilst trying to get back into employment.
I feel that this Covid-19 thing may well drag on for several more months yet.

    Big update.
Have decided to go self employed. Have also joined the local Ambulance service, althougth this is turning into a farce. Have had my clinical and driver training, but have yet to be cleared to start. Every time I fill in a form that they ask me to, they send another information request.

    Another positive update.
My mum's estate is finally sorted and me and my brother now have our inheritance (well, actually the cash part).
The purchase of my brother's 50% of the family home is at the 1st stage. Need to pop to the solicitors tomorrow with ID documents and proof of where the money is coming from.

Hopefully won't be much longer and the house will be ours and I can actually start planning major repairs.
First thing to be done will be the garage roof. The garage is joined to my neighbours and their roof is not in good shape, so spoke to them and we both agreed that the best way forward would be to obtain a quote to get both done at the same time and use a membrane roof material. That way, the job is likely to cost less.

  • Delighted to hear that, Pat...it has felt a long time to get this far.

Good thinking about the garage. :)

It has taken over 18 months to get this far. Off to the solicitors tomorrow with our ID documents, then it is just a waiting game for the legal people to do their bit.
At least there are no searches to undertake, so that speeds things up.

As for the Ambulance work, had my first 2 shifts with a mentor this week. 0515 - 1515. Need to get more shifts though as I need to gain experience.

Nearly 2 months since I have updated. A lot has happened in the last 8 weeeks.
Am not currently driving for the Ambulance service. One client complained about my driving, so I am awaiting driver reassessment.

On the personal front, have, this week, transfered over to my solicitors the funds to buy out my brother's 50% share in the family home. This is the culmination of 9 months of waiting.

that's a bit swings and roundabouts in the news stakes, but I am sure it will turn out fine - you have too many skills to lose just because of one (probably not that) bad ride
