Wow, can't believe I haven't posted since before Christmas.
Things have moved on with regards to my wife's deceased parent's house.
Contracts are due to be exchanged on 24th January and her brother will then move to his new abode in Ipswich.
Our flat sale is procceeding nicely and with luck, should complete sometime in Feb.Never Knowingly Understood.

2 weeks on and my b-in-l is now (as of last night) in his new abode. He is not very happy as the previous owners left everything in the sheds, so he now has a load of gardening tools, a tumble drier (untested), strimmer (untested) and lawnmower (again, untested).
Not a lot else to report.Never Knowingly Understood.

Hi Patman. Regarding the challenge with your BIL shed - you (or he) should raise a question on the housoing board. There are a lot of really fierce no nonsense posters there who will advise about how he can make them take it away or at least charge them his costs for breaching their contract (if indeed they have). Or they may just tell him to stick it in the tip or Ebay the whole contents might attract someone
He should not have to put up with such nonsense (but sometimes you cant do anything about it)I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

He was told by the on-site manager that the previous owners had disappeared a year back. They were supposed to clean out the sheds but on the plus point he will need a lawn, ower as there is an area of grass that comes with the building.
The tumble drier (if it works) will give him an option to get his washing dry if we have a very wet spell.
So, when you take into account what they have left behind, most of it will be of use to him and the stuff that isn't will go on ebay.Never Knowingly Understood.

A long time has passed since my last update. Not much to report other than MrsP has had the 1st part of her inheritence and spent some of it on a new top of the range cooker. This was delivered last Sunday. Unfortuanatley, I hadn't measured the old cooker. A basic error as the old cooker was 500mm wide and the new one is 600mm wide. Still, only took an hour or so to reduce a kitchen base unit and worktop to allow the thing to fit.Never Knowingly Understood.

2 weeks on, and bad news to report. My employers went bust today and they couldn't even pay our wages.Knowing how the company operated in the past, I wouldn't be surprised to see them back up and running in a week under a new variation of their old name.Never Knowingly Understood.

That's terrible - I hope you are aren't down too much.
Good luck chasing them down, but the way things work probably no chance. You should report them to <I don't know who you report them to> but they are a disgrace.I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

I did start an update yesterday, but got distracted.Right, have now received all the paperwork I need to claim my un-paid wages from the Govt. This proccess was sped up somewhat after we all met up to discuss our next steps and, after putting together a battle plan, a large and angry mob set off from the coffee shop we met up in and headed over to the sister company of the one we worked for, and stormed the owner's office.Meanwhile, another section set about alerting the HSE to a few issues that the firm covered-up and lied about when the factory inspector visited a month or so back.On the positive side. Flat will soon be completed on so will be mortgage-free. Not quite sure what the future holds as have only just signed on to UC.As my wife's inheritence and the money from the sale of the flat take us way way above the £16k limit, not sure if we will get vany UC. If the system still works on the old rules of first 6 months being contributions based, then we will be ok. By the time 6 months is up, we will have completed on the house and should be in a better position to actually plan our future.Thinking of going self-employed, so will discuss this with JC on Tuesday next week.Apart from that, shed base has ground to a halt as I have run out of ballast and won't get a delivery until tomorrow.Have got around to covering the summer house roof with a tarpaulin so it is now watertight and fit to store stuff from the flat in whilst the shed is completed.Started off my giant potato sack so will see how that goes (old tonne bags have their uses).Never Knowingly Understood.

Nearly a month since I last updated.Flat has now completed, so am in the best financial position I have been in in years.I no longer have a mortgage or have to fork out on a service charge each month. These 2 alone will save me £250 a month.Never Knowingly Understood.
