Hi Patman!
How did I miss your diary?!
Congratulations on the job - I hope it gives you a bit of financial stability.
Well done on being creative enough to upcycle furniture! :TDebt: £11,640.02 paid in full! DFD: 30/06/20

Thanks. It's not just furniture.
Project Trailer is all painted and the wheels went on today so I can move it around.
Left to do -
sort electrics and instal new floor and sides (the easy bit).
New project started - sort garage.
So far - taken front off corner cupboard to open up the shelving within.
Raised lowest shelf to allow storage of wheeled toolbox underneath.
Raised 2nd shelf to allow storage of sliding mitre saw on shelf #1.
Op. cupboard - doors removed.
Work-wise, still have job, but have applied for a better role elsewhere. Just waiting on that one.Never Knowingly Understood.

Hi Patman,
Loving the upcycling projects, it's amazing what can be tarted up & brought back into use. Like you, I also lost my Mum at the end of last year, so we've been hugely busy clearing our old family home & are very nearly ready to list it for sale.
I noticed you said you'd sold some of your Mum's books on eBay. We had heaps of books to sort out & I used Ziffit as it was just quicker to sell by the boxload & just drop off at local Spar for courier rather than faff around with postage costs, etc. I don't know if you've used Ziffit before? They certainly don't buy everything by any means. We had mostly non-fiction to sell though & were offered between about 50p & £6 per book. If you don't want to sell at that price, you can just delete the item on your trade. They also buy DVDs, computer games & music scores - anything with a bar code or ISBN number. You'll be thinking I work for them, lol. I definitely don't. I just found them a useful way of selling lots of books as bundles rather than individually on ebay. We made about £250 all in, & it was nice to think that Mum & Dad's books will end up with new owners to enjoy them.
Anyway, just posting this in case it's useful.

#foxgloves, I have the Ziffit app on my phone. The profit I got for the books was around 3.5x what Ziffit had offered. The way sites like them work is to buy in cheap and sell-on via ebay or Amazon.
I have developed a policy of list on ebay first, then those that don't sell, put on a pile to send to Ziffit.
Anyway, this week's update.
Triler is fully painted. Electrics - I decided to use the existing light board instead of a full re-wire with the added expense of new lights. So, after a little 'modification' with a grinder and a bit of welding, I constructed a pair of retaining brackets to hold the lightboard without interfering with the removable tailboard.
I also found and fitted a jockey wheel I had originally bought for my first trailer.
I will have to take a photo and post it on here.
Finances are tight this month. Had to fork out for buildings/contents insurance for the house (50/50 split with brother) at the beginning and car insurance is due on 24th. Will have to phone and ask them to switch to monthly payments as my 2nd wage pay is on the last working day of the month.
Project #3
Garage is coming along nicely.
Project #4
New fence - need loads of pallets to cut to planks to make around 20 6x3 panels. This will be ongoing for a while, so not worried about time on this one. Just need concrete posts and gravel boards.
Managed to get a load of paving slabs for free today. Need these for a path and base for a small storage box for the bin bags.Never Knowingly Understood.

hello,
good job on the trailer and the garage1st goal: 0/936 euros

This week's update.
Made the most of Good Friday by taking a trailer load of rubbish to the tip and came back with a shelving unit someone was throwing out.
This is now installed in the garage and holds all my toolboxes.
Money wise, things are very tight. Had car insurance and house/contents insurance come out in the same month so had to put car insurance on monthly payments.
Project trailer is on hold due to the financial situation, but the garage is gradually being beaten into shape.Never Knowingly Understood.

We have a builder coming to weatherproof our old boiler house that is attached to the house and the cause of dampness. Once that happens, I’m hoping to use it as a sort space to get the garage sorted once and for all. I would love an organised space instead of the general dumping ground it is currently.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. And you can use the old boiler house as a workspace in it's own right once your garage is sorted.
Anyway, another nice day on the outskirts of Britain's 1st City. Removed small pond last night and found we had 5 little goldfish still in there. They have been added to the big pond and the small one put up for sale.
Today, I cleaned-out the big pond and filter.
Tomorrow's job. Obtain and fit a new latch to livingroom door.Never Knowingly Understood.

Well done on everything you are getting done around the house - I'm very jealous as I only seem to be getting the washing done!

Thanks PB.
This week was looking very grim on the finances front until I got a £200 refund from Co-Op energy and £94 from TopCashBack. That sorts me until payday on Tuesday.
Also sold a couple of items and made myself £50. Invested £30 of this in a biscuit jointer (brand new, never used).
Decided to retrieve my VegTrug from the flat as my trailer was empty. What a palaver. Got it back to the house and then the fun started. Whilst getting it in the garage presented no problems, getting it out the rear door proved to be a mission.
First, i had to remove the door into th utility room my dad had built in the end of the garage, Then, whilst trying to negotiate past the loo and out the side door it got stuck. At that point, I reached the end of my patience, reached for the recip saw,and cut the bottoms off the legs. Bingo, through the door into the lean-to and out into te garden.
Stuck the legs back on and job done.Never Knowingly Understood.
