This is a welcome development, because the telephone application process was clunky before, and the automated telephone application process had a precisely zero percent success rate for me.
However, it's not really true to say that this change will remove the need to claim back the upfront cost of a prescription. This is because there was never a need to pay it and claim it back before - if you paid for a PPC over the phone and got your reference number (i.e. being no more or less organised than this new method will need you to be), you could give them that when collecting your prescription and tick box F on the form instead of paying, waiting for your PPC to arrive in the post and then reclaiming. I did this while waiting for my prescription to be made up before on several occasions. Never had to go to the bother of paying and reclaiming.0 -
Oh dear - a new NHS IT 'development':eek:How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Did anyone bother reclaiming their cash?
I have had it on DD for years. While OH get's hers before the first DD. I get mine after. So it is always possible that I should have to reclaim the first in a year (though DD being at the stat ofthe month it rearely occured unless I was late the previous month). I just said I had a certificate. Never had a problem. Quite frankly ridiculous. They have an excuse for the first cerfiticate. No point in not taking the automatic renewal early. (And let's not go there on the year they said renewel is not possible and please sign up again for me but OH was fine (there are around 10 days between certificate dates).
Conversely OH got a you should pay a fine letter as tyhey randomly changed her DOB for no reason after having a certificate for years. The online reply was incompitant though a quick phone call resolved it.0 -

The NHS do not do IT Development. That is probably the issue. It gets given to the lowest bidder who has probably never seen a computer before in their life.0
