Good Morning
I have found a recipe for salt dough that I thought some-one might like for making decorations or pressies with the kids - I havn't yet tried it but it should keep them occupied for a while :j . I'm thinking of making a plaque type thing with them for grandparents, and maybe some stars painted & glittered in a christmassey style
Materials Needed:
Mix together flour and salt. Add the oil and then slowly add the water and stir until you get a nice clay consistency. Once completely mixed, make into the desired shapes. Bake in a 250 degree oven for approximately 1 hour. This will vary depending on how thick you creations are. One hint, do not make shapes too thick or they will crack with baking.
Another recipe similar to the above 4 Cups of Flour, 1 cup of Salt, and 1 1/2 Cups of Water. Your creations can be baked at 300 degrees for about an hour. For a golden appearance, paint your creations with egg yolk before you put it in the oven. Or painted once cooled.
Hope it works A

That is brilliant thanks.
A couple of years ago for Christmas my brother gave me a present which when I unwrapped turned out to be a Diesel jewelry/watch box. I was so surprised and impressed as he is not usually that thoughfull. I was expecting a beautiful watch that I would always remember him by. I opened the box and it turns out to be a dog poo made of salt dough and painted brown, very festive
It's become a running joke in our family each christmas now as you never know what you are gonna get. Last year I got him a lump of coal but this year I'm going to put your recipe to good use and get creative.
I apologise Advent for the misuse of your recipe but the look on his face will be priceless when he expects a Sopranos box set on xmas day!"As a cure for worrying, work is better than whiskey"0 -
:T Thats brill I'm gonna steal your doggie poo idea, ooh the fun is endless :rotfl: A0

We have star christmas tree decorations on our tree the children made years ago.
Just cut out star shapes and make a hole at one end, sprinkle with a little gold glitter and coat with clear varnish. Just thread some gold ribbon through the hole and its finished, great for the children to make.0
