  • That's great news about the 0% it will save loads in interest for you and give you a bit of breathing space if any financial emergencies arise. Is it worth taking a bit longer to pay it off as its 0% and build the emergency fund up in that time as well.

Thank you Sarah, that is a wonderful idea I had not thought of doing that, I'd ideally love to have a years wages in a pot so when work does fail me least I can pay the bills for a while and not have to rob Peter to pay Paul.

I am doing the £1 a week saving thing where week 1 you save £1 week 2 £2 and so forth... I think you get £1,300 on the 52nd week... Going well so far

Got a text today telling me my Gas supplier has change so that is £19 a month direct debt instead of £25.25

Also noticed in my Halifax current account I have received the £2.00 reward money, not seen that in a few years, used to be a fiver... Ah the days when I had money and used to flick £1,000 between accounts to get £15.00 in reward money for a few moments of online banking....

I feel next week is going to be tight, having to take my ferrets to the vets, they have fleas, tried to bathe them to 'save money' alas didn't work so off to vets they go. I think I need to date a vet!

    1. Rent £180.00 - I know a massive push but rent arrears are now £497.00 :)
    2. Council tax £25.00 - £89.00 left for this year
Will pop £5.00 or £10.00 on the electric and that is me done for the week, it's a tight one as pushed the rent arrears I feel good I am now under £500.00 :)

  • Well done on paying off some of the arrears. It all helps. Especially if you can get most of it paid off before the next financial year. Be good to start the council tax year without any carry over

Certainly is nice not to start with extra to pay, Last year I started with £155.00 credit, they wanted to refund me it, I was like well I have to pay it next year so keep it! they seemed shocked. I wish I was in a position to pay it in one hit, then make monthly installments towards 2021/2022 council tax. its unlike gas when you build up a stock pile of credit in the summer months for the winter.

  • Yep it’s always helpful, and hopefully you’ll be able to keep on top of the payments in the new financial year

  • Just discovered I have £10.00 in Tescos Clubcard vouchers... Shame I cannot put that on to the rent or council tax lol
Any ideas on best way to 'spend' or what to save up for?

Buy food at Mr T & pay the money you would have spent to the arrears.
