Munchin's Marvellous Debt Busting Diary

Morning all,
I am so missing that hour this morning. Busy weekend but really fun. I went shopping with sister on Saturday and went a bit over budget (£20 over) but I got so much and a lunch out. I have no excuse to hit the shops for the rest of the summer.
Yesterday I went to a 10k race but just to support friends. The rest of the day was spent with lots of family who brought Mum loads of chocolates ...which didn't help with the diet yesterday.
I am planning a run today at lunchtime - diet damage limitation. I think that is it really. This week I don't have any volunteering and am determined to take pup out for walks in the evening assuming it is dry.
I've joined the 'lose weight thread' for their next 10 week challenge. I did well on the last challenge, so hoping this will keep me accountable.
I am also away to join one of the NSD challenges - I really don't have any excuse for spending money this week (except for diesel), so I'm hoping to have a few NSDs.0 -
Weekly spends - w/c 01st April 2019
Mon - NSD 1
Tues - NSD2
Wed - £12.24 Tesco groceries
Thurs - £9 McDonalds (soft touch for nephews) & £35 diesel
Fri - NSD 3
Sat - £17 (primark)
Sun - £1.60 (paper for mum)0 -
I'm glad you had a good weekend
.
Good luck with getting back on track with the weight loss. I'm sure walks with the pup will help.

Afternoon all,
I've been up from the crack of dawn and am tired today - I've not slept well all week but that happens every now and again for me and at least I know it's not a regular thing.
Yesterday I met a friend for breakfast and pootled into Primark- spent £27 but taking half of it back. I didn't realise that my monthly friend was on it's way (it's been playing silly beggars recently) and I can almost see my frittering increase just before that hits. I could kick myself when the 'sod it' feeling comes over me. Not the end of the world and I'm due back in town on Friday as I have a hospital appt and will return the odds and sods. My friends and I are going to see Cher in Nov and tickets went on sale on Friday - £98 + fees!!!!!!!! I haven't given my friend the money yet but are concerts getting ridiculously expensive or is that just me????? Will be a class night as there is a big group of us going.
I read a new ED recovery book the last few day and I recognise the 'sod it' mentality as part and parcel of the ED issues I had in the past. I get a mini high from shiny new things.
I took pup out for a run y'day and then we went for a long walk today and now he's curled up beside me and I think he is just recharging his batteries for another round of playing.
I think I have a chance of earning some extra money from next week and if it comes up then I'm for grabbing it with both hands.
I have lunch prepped for tomorrow and now just need to see what the mini pile of ironing looks like. Sis is on her way up and she is bringing lunch but she has asked me to help with a work issue but I think that is a fair payment.
Hopefully this week I would like got get a bit more sleep. I'm back to the volunteering and I have a hospital appointment so taking Friday as leave.0 -
I hope you manage to sleep better. I like buying things too when I'm feeling a bit down or upset, but I try and limit it to a new mug or pair of socks so it's not too expensive
. Well done on planning to return half the Primani stuff
.
I hope you manage to get the extra money.

Thanks HHD - I think I'm going to have to limit myself to small treats like yourself as I'm an all or nothing kind of person which never really works out well
.
The office is freezing this morning and I've had 2 cups of tea and 2 layers on to keep warm. It's not just me, my colleagues are saying the same.
Apart from buying Mum her paper I managed not to spend any other money yesterday and I have no plans to spend anything today.0 -
Positive vibes from me as well for a good nights sleep!
And well done too in taking some of the Primani back!
The concert should be really good. I'm always moaning about the cost of concert and theatre tickets. I feel it's such a racket!
Hope the chance of the extra money proves fruitful. Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Morning all,
Tired today but had a such a good & busy day yesterday I’m not complaining.
Yesterday I was on leave as I had a knee appointment in the morning and just decided to have a flexi day with Mum. I won’t bore you with details of appointment but suffice to say that my Doctors total lack of interest when she referred me to the physio shone through as the physio had wrong knee on his notes and no record of hip injury that started it all:(.
Mum came with me so we could go to shops as she wanted some holiday stuff. It’s her birthday soon so I got her sandals she liked in M&S and the lady on the till was so lovely, she checked my Sparks card and found an offer for £5 off. I also had my vouchers so sandals cost £0. We went and got a coffee and used vouchers again.
Mum hasn’t been well and has lost a lot of weight. It is really worrying as she finally went to doctor this week who suggested it could be a) something and nothing or b) potentially life threatening. Of course until she gets the tests we will worry.
Went to volunteer thing in the afternoon and then weeded Dad’s grave on way home.
Last night went to friends house but had mostly soft drinks.
Today I’m running a 5k with friends & nephew - bit nervous already. After that taking pup to groomers.
Today should be a lot more relaxing than yesterday. I better get my skates on.0 -
You've certainly had a busy time!
 to your useless sounding doctor!
It's nice to read you had a lovely day with your mum and you managed a bargain as well with the sandals. :j. I hope your mum's tests go well - can only be worrying for you all.
Here's to a successful 5k today and a glamorous pup!:D

Thanks SSG
,
Mum's ultrasound appointment letter came on Sat but the appt is in a month and on the day she goes on holiday. Mum is happy with that but I'm concerned that if there is something wrong and she flies it might not be good for her. Trying to see if I can bring the appt forward.
5k on Sat was brilliant and I did it in 33 mins- probably slow for some but brilliant for me
. I had no knee pain and then went for a walk on Sunday and yesterday - when I was finishing my walk yesterday my old knee pain flared up which was so upsetting/annoying. I'm resting and icing it now and hoping it goes away but from previous experience this is it just starting:(.
Spending front - I opened a new current account - it's called a Monzo account. It only offers a £5 introductory offer but it records your spends in different categories and you can set how much you wish to spend in each category. It doesn't limit you but at least for me I can see how much I have in my groceries budget and when I'm getting close to that limit.
My car insurance hasn't gone out of my bank account yet and I wish it would as my bank looks healthier than it should. I have 2 more big payments coming up - car service on 30th May approx. £150 and then I need to get heating oil (currently £479 for 1000litres). I'm hoping that I can stretch another month or 2 as I have £200 in account at the minute. After the oil and car service are paid, that is the big spends done for the year......hopefully. It gives me time to have money in the pot for next year and for new tyres which seem to be an annual thing for me as well.
We still haven't got our annual pay increase (civil service) and I think it was due in August, so currently I am owed 8 months back pay and still no sign of it being paid in the near future. Hopefully we get it paid in the next few months. It's not a lot but when you get it in a lump sum it feels more.
Today is a bitty day in work - no big projects just lots of little bitty annoying things but the sooner I get going the sooner it will be done
