IPA's - dumb question?

Having read various threads here, I have a question.....
Am I correct in my understanding that if you are not given an IPA at the start of your BR, you won't get one?

Hi Ali,
If your income changes signifcantly throughout your BR period then you may get an IPA/O.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
The OR can impose an IPA at any time while you're undischarged. More info is here . It's in the OR's interest to set one up asap after assessing your case, as they'll want to get any money available to creditors, but how long each case takes to assess depends on the intricacy of it, & it could well be that if your case is very detailed that you're waiting a few months before hearing anything one way or the other. I usually say to people that, until they hear that they won't be getting one, they should assume they might be at some point, as the OR until the day before you are discharged to set one up.
However, don't let thinking about it weigh on your mind. Even if you do get one imposed several months down the line, you can contest it if you're not happy with it & you get 14 days to sign your agreement to it anyway.
