Can't pay we'll take it away

I can't find anywhere to put this. I'm just curious, now with GDPR where the company that appears on that Channel 5 show stands. With all the CCTV footage they collect and then sell to Channel 5 for the show, surely under GDPR anyone on that show can object. They aren't involved in a crime (as long as they don't get violent) so surely that company has no right under GDPR to keep their CCTV footage let alone sell it to Channel 5.
Just curious.

I'm sure they have top lawyers working for them: they'll find a loophole. It's all part of a government plan started under Cameron to demonise people in debt(and on benefits usually). You only have to look at programs like 'Benefits Britain, 'Skint' etc. They did this so they can get public support for benefit cuts.0

Everyone on the show gets paid, just like Kyle, no one is shown not willing. Most appearance fees (at least £500) covers a bit of the debt.0 -
Absolutely, I'm pretty certain that the folk involved in all the cases featured on the show have had to give their permission for their case to be broadcast. I'm not aware that payment is offered (although I guess it makes sense, if the payment can be used towards the debt).I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0

Appears this family didn't give their permission

That also explains why so many episodes now have all the faces blurred out.0 -

Yep - the new GDPR is impacting on these programmes - watched a couple episodes of old 'caught on camera' type programmes and the 'bad guys' all had their faces blurred, but you could see them clearly before. So if repeats are showing now (or new episodes show) faces then they must have given some sort of permission -or the film companies will now face legal proceedings.0 -
Side note but are the charges by the bailiffs legal?0
