Some things that you have always relied on are not just changed, they disappear entirely. Savlon Dry Spray, magic on burns. The sting went immediately and no blistering, for years it was a fixture in my kitchen. Now unobtainable and no one has been able to tell me why. I asked a pharmacist and she said that people were always asking for it and she had no idea why it had been discontinued, perhaps it had something to do with iodine. I had no idea that iodine was a harmful substance.

Don't get me started on Fray Bentos tinned pies:mad:
Now just a slurry filled imitation of what they once were.
The only similarity is the round tinWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
I had to buy paint stripper to refresh an old radiator. The (well known brand) tin had all sorts of dire warnings about fumes, ventilation and eye protection. After all that, it barely shifted the peeling paint at all. Looking it up online, I discovered the EU had banned an active ingredient and there were many scathing reviews describing it as "effective as mineral water" and "I would confidently wash my face in it."They are an EYESORES!!!!0

The shorter list would be things that haven't changed I think!
For me it's the taste of Branston Pickle, it just isn't how it used to be and Pan Yan Pickle has gone altogether sadly!0 -

You're so right about Imperial Leather, which has always been my DH's preferred soap. I used to be able to use it, if my own soap ran out; but now, it makes me itch abominably.

Can't get green "household" soap any more, either. I have quite a few items of clothing that have to be hand-washed, and I always used to have a bar of household soap in the kitchen for this purpose. No longer - I either use the tail ends of my DH's shaving soap (which is itself hard to find - luckily Tesco had some on the shelf the other day) or I use a bar of Morries cheapo ordinary bathroom soap.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
It might be down to changes in the way they're grown.
At one time farmers used seaweed (Vraic) as a fertiliser., but the practice has declined considerably.
Could it also be down to them being forced under plastic sheeting more than they used to be in the past. They don't taste the same as when I used to live there.Make £2026 in 2026
