Money Savers Arms

Last ooorders!… We’re sorry but for now, due to resources, we need to close the Money Savers Arms including Discussion Time.

It’s not easy to write this. We love the forum, but we also have a job to do to protect it, our users and MoneySavingExpert, and at the moment, with all our resources focused on Coronavirus information, and all the team at home, we don’t feel we have the resources to do a good enough job.

For four months, we’ve been struggling to cope with the huge volumes of messages we’ve been getting from Forumites – many of whom are in desperate and dire straits with their finances. The team have been working all hours to try and keep on top of it. At first we thought it’d be a short sharp spike, but it isn’t, it’s continuing, so we have had some difficult choices to make about prioritisation.

Unfortunately in, and likely because of, these stressful times, the Forum team have also been receiving an increasing number of complaints about posts made on the Money Savers Arms and Discussion Time. The team have done what they can to try and walk the tightrope of balancing all the various interests, but for now we need to draw a line under this and temporarily close this Board, so we can keep the key, MoneySaving boards – where people are supporting each other through this crisis - running smoothly.

We know this board is important to you, but as the MSE stance has been forbearance throughout this crisis, now we ask that of you. We’re sorry. Of course you can post on other boards, but we’d ask you to stick to the subjects of those boards, and not use them as a surrogate Money Savers Arms or Discussion Time. And as always please be kind and friendly to each other, especially any newbies.

Thanks
MSE Forum Team

If Jeremy Corbyn had his way, much of the economy would have just shut down over the past few weeks, with obvious devastating results.

In 2015 he was Primary Sponsor of an Early Day Motion to ban all workers from having to do their jobs in temperatures above 30C. His commie mate McDonnell was also a sponsor.

In the case of the likes of building sites, the maximum temperature allowed for working would be 27C! So, probably a complete shutdown of the construction industry for weeks, if not months! :rotfl:

Don't you just love him! :rotfl:
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods, There is a rapture on the lonely shore, There is society, where none intrudes, By the deep sea, and music in its roar: I love not man the less, but Nature more...

The main downside of wishing this heat-wave away, is if/when the rain starts it doesn't know when to stop, usually.

Yes and it's hotter here in France, although I'm fortunate in having air conditioning.

I am so jealous! I wish I had air conditioning, the heat is killing me. With my Irish roots and red hair I was not designed for this weather. I live near a beach and we are having a walk on the beach every evening when it is cooler and usually a nice breeze.

Seriously? They would stop self employed tradespeople from earning a living ?

I assume there was also a minimum temperature for working too.

I like spring and autumn more than summer and winter, I must admit.

We couldn't have lived here without it, given my husband's lung condition - now he's gone I'm not giving it up!

Love it, spent part of the afternoon in the heat on a 40 mile bike ride returning in time to watch us win against the Swedes.
Exercise is great in a heatwave. Its actually cooler on a bike in hot weather compared to walking or jogging
People who are tired in this weather need to clean up their act and get healthy and stop smoking

I hate this weather, anything about 25 is just uncomfortable, prefer it around 20.

My "act" is fairly clean, I'm fit (ish) and healthy and don't smoke.

But you can't help yourself making crass generalisations based on your own prejudices can you?

There are existing laws on minimum temperatures but not maximum.
