Like many others I'm trying to put off the next food shop as long as I can. Having lost my meal plan (yet again ). I've been improvising with my cupboard and freezer stuff. I got all excited when I found a tin of kidney beans at the back of the cupboard that I didn't know I had. Thoughts of chilli ect ran through my head and finally that's another days meal sorted.
It must be a sign of my age, but sometimes its the smallest things that can make a difference. That's the food shopping put off for another day. :j

Well done hun! Its far EASIER to go out and buy food, so what you are doing is better and using the old brain a bit..lol.
What foods do you have in? We may be able to come up with some new recipes.

that is one of the problems of home cooking cos we put love into each dish we make and then when it is not well received we feel rejected in a way. If you have bought the dish then it is not you who are being rejected. I know that this is a reason that some women have given up home cooking because of the insensitivities of the people they are cooking for. I didn't have any choice - the budget wasn't there to buy ready made. After lots and lots of practice I am now considered a good cook and my home made is the dish of choice but I have had lots of dishes rejected along the way - remember to hang on in there cos your cooking is infinitely superior to anything - even the finest - that the supermarkets can produce.True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. I'm doing this too, and I got very excited when I realised there's a tub of Moroccan chickpea casserole in the freezer and some cous cous in the cupboard which will solve another nights tea :T0

Two thing I got very excited about, though neither of them were food.
At a time when I was very skint, I could buy some basic food, but there was no money for anything else, I stopped to answer a market researcher & was given a free deodorant, I was so pleased I could have hugged her as I knew that I was running low & didn't have the money to buy a new one. A month later, I started a new job & when I opened the desk drawer the previous paerson had left an emery board there. I felt like Christmas had arrived early, so silly, but you really don't know what it's like unless you've been there.
And as for exciting food, last year when hubby & I went through a very lean time, my DD1 bought me a food parcel, full of pasta, vegetables, a chicken, tinned soup etc.

I get excited when it's 2 days to payday and I need to buy food and realise I have enough nectar points for £2.50 off my shopping  Know it should be saved for treats but honestly if it's a choice between that or bread and milk - forget the treatsworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

I've been doing storecupboard meals this week and when I looked in the fridge yeaterday it was pretty much bare. I was ashamed really as I want to provide good stuff for my OH as we've just moved in together. Don't get me wrong - we weren't going hungry we eat very very well day and night - I'd just used up everything I'd need to, but I still felt bad - not good that I'd achieved something!
Making a skeleton list for shopping tomorrow too!
