Just wanted to post a thank you to Martin, his team and everyone here on the forum for helping me get out of debt. I got in trouble with a couple credit cards and a monster overdraft about six years ago and thought my life would be riddled with bills forever.
About two and a half years ago I discovered Martin Lewis and this site and started to be a bit more efficient with my debts. I wasn't paying them off any quicker, but they weren't mounting up anymore - I simply cut my spending to a level that meant I could cope with the debt.
Before I knew it, the loans I'd taken out a couple years before to try and sort myself out were coming to the end and suddenly the credit cards I had outstanding seemed like minor problems rather than major ones - once the loans cleared, I would be able to pay the credit cards off almost instantly!
That was just over six months ago - since then I've been struggling to clear my final problem - the overdraft... My car kept breaking down, the holiday wasn't as cheap as it could have been and other people's birthdays seemed like the ideal time to splash out because after all, I had no debt anymore! Except for the overdraft, that is.
Still, despite this year being a little more expensive than it should have been, today my bank account is £112 in credit, for the first time in, well, years. I have never been so rich.
I've never really posted on these forums, but felt I needed to thank you all for being my first point of reference, whenever I found a new obstacle to overcome or opportunity to make the most of.
Today is the first day of the rest of my life, I feel great and can't wait for the next opportunity to come along

Well done. It's a wonderful feeling to see that credit balance on your bank statement.
At the risk of being a killjoy, make sure you continue keeping a tight control of your finances - you don't want to have to repeat the process in two years.0 -
