Evening Sunday Money Savers,
Just been catching up with what you've been up to.
Dawn - Yes, you are still in Rescue/Enabler mode. It must be v difficult when it's a close family member & you suspect he will sleep in his car, but I guess it's a case of where exactly the buck stops in terms of bail-outs. I don't envy you.
FVD - That deli counter sounds like Backstabbers Central! I am severely allergic to getting blamed for things I haven't done, so I think you are doing well to rise above it & keep your dignity!
Not much on the list today as have done a 150 mile round trip to visit Mum.
*The home made muffins I took as a gift were well-received. Recipe copied out of frugal cookbook years ago...a simple, cheap, generic recipe which to which you just add 125g of any combination of fresh or dried fruit, nuts, spices, flavourings of your choice.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Usual random selection of gifts from Mum: 4 recycled jam jars, 8 magazines, 1 CD, 1 pint of milk, 1 snack pot of nuts, 1 snack pot of wasabi peas, 4 tins of cat food & an unwanted stereo CD player/DAB radio & speakers.
*Sorted out my job list for tomorrow.
*Managed to avoid clothes-buying temptation very easily, as apart from one nice black slinky tunic top, I felt surrounded by a sea of polyester tops in horrid or insipid (or both) colours. If it hadn't been great for saving me money, it'd have been quite depressing.
Have a peaceful night all. Do half an hour prep for Monday morning, then have the rest of the evening relaxing & looking after no. 1.
F xx2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
FVD that sounds a bit of a nightmare. I just drown at work when there's a bad culture. Hope you can rise above it x
uphillstruggler exciting times re the move! Hope everything's settled already
Has been a nice day - oh let me have a lay in this morning
We went to a birthday party - my godson's - and I used recycled wrapping paper, envelop and made the card

picked up 2 x 25p (ys) stir fry packs and bunged them in the freezer and picked up a pack of 5 bananas ys that looks like they've been kept in a bag for 3p! Have added one to my overnight oats and they are perfectly perfect!
I mended a cardi, sewn up the hem on my trousers and sewn 2 buttons on two tops while in the kitchen with madam who was crafting
Made lunches for tomorrow. Am about to eat ys chinese chicken for tea mmmmm
