I just wanted to ask...how do I join this challenge or at least what's the purpose of it? It looks like it could be something useful to me ...

    * I had had
    * had dinner and tea home

I wasn't going to be saving for emergency and me & my fiance said if anything does happen we'll use the wedding fund but I feel like wed be pushing ourselves and our goals back and i feel like i should have a nice little financial cushion behind us.

*did 1 load of washing and dried it
    *cleaned the kitchen and loo
*put the 3 bags of washing away
*managed to find some pairs of sock in my odd sock bag ... still loads of his missing though.

    Morning all :)
Hello xironsongx, nobody butts in here, everyone is welcome :)

    My plans for today:
HG cooked fruit from freezer for breakfast instead of bought fresh fruit :)
Make fishcakes for lunch, using some leftover mashed potato and a couple of tins of tuna bought on offer. A tablespoon of chopped capers and whatever parsley I can salvage from the garden will make them a bit more interesting :) There will be 5 of us for lunch, and this is cheaper than buying nice pate, cheese, bread etc as I sometimes do.
Will remember to make one without 'the green bits' for 4 year old GD, who will be among the lunch guests :rotfl:
Make a salad to go with the fishcakes, using rocket from the greenhouse :)
Got some chicken out for dinner, will make a kind of curry using a reduced jar of sauce I have had for ages. I usually make my own sauces, but will use this up. I can always chuck in more chillis, ginger, lemongrass or whatever if it is too bland :)
Check banks and update spreadsheet if necessary
Not planning any spends today, though 4 year old GD may have other ideas....
Check for surveys, though there aren't usually many at weekends. I have lost my motivation a bit with surveys :o
Some cleaning if I get the chance, but small demanding guests may preclude this (not that I need much dissuading :rotfl:)
Light wood stove later to minimise heating use. Put kettle on top for 'free' hot water for drinks etc :)

    Happy Saturday everyone :)

    Hi February Fabulistas,

Had a terrible night's rest so got up and did Day 4 of my anti-anxiety App.

Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Three:

    * Made a cheap packed lunch to take to work. Last of the olives and cherry peppers. Slice of cheese. Few grapes. Last of the defrosted tiger bread and butter. Bag of crisps. Water bottle to refill at work.

    * Good, homemade, sustaining breakfast using YS cheese muffins with two poached eggs.

    * Charge phone at work. On work days I don't need to charge it at home at all.

    * Checked broadband allowance and online banking.

    Onwards and upwards.

    Morning Saturday Savers,
Welcome Xironsongsx - we like new people on here. It does help me focus on good money habits when I post regularly on here, as I'm an ex-fritterer of money & want my reform to be permanent!
Well, I am on my lonesome today as mr f has had to go to a work thing, but unfortunately not one he will either get paid for or get time back for. I've told him to eat as many free sandwiches as possible so as to get something tangible for his time & cost of diesel.
Meanwhile back on the home front, a pretty chilled out day:
*Made 7 jars of hot chilli sauce to use up some of the lovely scotch bonnet chillies I grew last summer. I made up the recipe myself, using mangoes as the fruity base. Am quite pleased with it, but as they are Caribbean chillies, it's bloomin' hot! Good flavour though & mr f is almost certainly bound to like it as he has an asbestos mouth. Didn't use all the mangoes I bought, so have put 3 spare ones in the fruit basket to enjoy next week.
*mr f driving to next town after his work thing to get a refund for the overcharge on his new speaker - have bored you enough with that saga. He has taken 2 x 500 nectar point swipe vouchers which he was given yesterday & is going to buy a loaf of bread for the freezer & claim the points, seeing as he's had to do a 30 mile round trip at our expense to put right someone else's error.
*L/O bacon being used tonight with poached eggs & home made jacket wedges.
*Bake a batch of muffins to take down to Mum's tomorrow. We usually go out for coffee when we get there, but I know we'll be having lunch out tomorrow & a coffee shop visit on top of that will be added expense, so I am going to arrive with a tin of muffins & she can put the kettle on when we arrive & we can all have one of those. I have all the ingredients in stock to bake them....think will do lemon & ginger & stick a chopped apple in for moistness.
*All free leisure for me today - I don't have the car, so in addition to my culinary efforts, I intend to do some genealogy & send the finished doc to someone I promised it to, knit & later hope to watch the final 2 episodes of 'Hard Sun'. I had planned an hour of free fitness in the garden clearing a big border, but it's too rainy for that, so it's wet playtime for me & cat today.
    Enjoy your weekend all,
    F xx
Ally - re stress.....something else I often do if I ever feel my old anxiety trying to 'get out of its box' is give it a grade out of 10.......so 0 would be an utter state of totally relaxed torpor & 10 would be 'Meltdown imminent'. I find this is quite useful, as if I reach a 7 or even an 8 (that would be rare these days), giving it a 'score' out loud feels like I am kind of in control especially as I know it is likely soon to start receding to a 6 then a 5, etc (hopefully). Also, if it stays stubbornly at a 7 or so for longer, I can reassure myself that I am obviously sufficiently in control for it not to have risen to an 8, etc. I'm not sure I'm explaining this too well, but I guess it's kind of a numerical way of applying that helpful old adage 'This too will pass'. What curious beasts our brains are, aren't they?
OK, have a good day all, must think about early lunch & getting on with my family history project.

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

    My list for today:

Small shop at some point, stick to list
    Smalls to prepaid swimming lessons
    Tea from freezer
Probably use membership to go out somewhere later and get some fresh air and a walk, take a picnic and snacks if we do
    Washing on, dry on airer/radiators
TD officially broken the band thingy has snapped, will order on today online and see if we can put it on
    Quick tidy round

    Morning folks

I haven't caught up with the thread yet so apologies if this is a bit "all about me".

    Here's the mission/update:
    • Spent 2 days at m-I-l's so saved a bit of monies on food/heating there. - done
    • Heating off most of today
    • Do food shop at lunchtime for essentials only - done
    • Work - done
    • Update budget sheet with OH
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Try to track down my hat
    • Start making scarf to match missing hat (or make new hat!?)
    • Work out what to do about car :(
Will add more as I go

    Have a good one all
