ALL THE POINTS HAVE NOW GONE, THANKS!

26 October 2010

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gif The Winners[/title]
Congratulations to the following 100 people who have potentially netted a free dinner. The first 50 to send me a Private Message (click my name and then "send a private message to MSE Natasha") with their FULL NAME AND THE USERNAME/EMAIL ADDRESS they've registered on Toptable.com (if you haven't got one, go and do it now) will receive the points.

If I don't hear from at least 50 people by Monday 8 November any remaining points will be given out on a first come first served basis (subject to whether you've received a goodie in previous giveaways, though it's worth private messaging anyway as if there are many copies left over, you may still get one) at a later point. So please be quick! :)

Please DO NOT send me a private message if YOU'RE NOT A WINNER ON THIS LIST. Just keep an eye on this thread, it'll be updated with details of how to request leftover points at some stage after 8 November - but there won't necessarily be any left by then.

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gif What's this about?[/title]
We've blagged 50 lots of 2,800 credits from restaurant booking site Toptable.com which MoneySavers can possibly exchange for a completely free dinner.

To see exactly what you'll get in exchange for these credits, scroll further down (but be aware that, sadly, the participating restaurants are mainly in big cities, very rare in Scotland/Wales and non-existent in Northern Ireland - sorry folks).

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gif How to enter[/title]
If you're interested, just reply to this (click on 'post reply') and say:

"No such thing as a free lunch?"

To do this you need to be registered for the forum (if you're not, when you click reply you'll be taken through the process. It's free, of course).

APPEAL: Please ONLY reply to this thread if you will check back to see if you've won the points next week (week commencing Monday 1 November). If you don't get in contact promptly you won't receive them, and if there are any points remaining they'll be given away. This is usually around a week after the results have been announced.

But bear in mind 100 names are being picked and there are only 50 lots of points, so you'll have to get in quick.

Also, please DON'T email in as your name won't be counted. Nor include your contact details in this thread as, for your own safety, we don't allow personal details on the public forum so your post will be deleted.

This thread will shut on Monday 1 November so please get your posts in before then.

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gif What exactly does 2,800 points get you?[/title]
That's enough to book a completely free two-course meal for two via Toptable.com (it's 1,400 credits per person) at one of 26 restaurants (10 in London, seven in Paris, five in other areas of England, three in Scotland, and one in Wales).

If you're happy to dine alone, you could visit these restaurants solo on two separate occasions. Or, for 2,000 points, you can get a meal for one at a 'higher tier' restaurant, which opens up 18 other venues (14 in England, two in Dublin, one in Paris and one in Scotland).

What's more as you get 100 points just for registering at toptable, and 100 points for signing up to its newsletter, new users can boost these up to 3,000, opening up more options.

If you already have a toptable account and have existing points, you can combine the 2,800 bounty on top and exchange your total for other 'more expensive' dining options.

See which restaurants you can redeem points at and the total amount of points you need for each. But you will have to pay for drinks, unless the restaurant offers free tap water.

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gif More about toptable[/title]
Toptable.com is an online restaurant reservation service where 1,000s of venues are listed offering various discounts on dining out across the UK (and the are some options to chose abroad too).

If you write a short review on the restaurant after your dining experience, you'll get 200 points a time (or 1,400 for reservations of 10+ people).

Once you've accumulated at least 1,400 points, you can exchange them for a free meal out from a list of participating eateries. The more points you have, the more diners you can have and the more restaurants choices you can pick from.

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gif What's the size of the saving??[/title]
Depending on where you're dining, a two-course meal for two at one of the 1,400 level restaurants could normally cost around £20 per person (obviously depending on what you order). Though standard 50% off booking discounts are usually offered by these venues, so in reality you're saving around half that. Though that's still pretty darn good.

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gifAnything extra to be aware of?[/title]
Sadly the distribution of participating restaurants to redeem points at is severely limited in Scotland and Wales, and non-existent in Northern Ireland. Yet points are valid for 12 months so there's plenty of time to enjoy the free meal if you have a reason to travel further afield at some point in that period.

Most meal choices are from the restaurant's specified set or a la carte menu, with options including Indian, Italian, Mediterranean, Thai, British, Scottish, Oriental, European, French and American cuisine.

Each restaurant has it's own qualifying days, times and daily availability for a reward-exchange reservation.

[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]wtd_icon.gifHow will the winners be chosen?[/title]
100 people will be picked at random (we've a special little computer programme to do it) and announced in next week's email (if you don't already get the email go to www.moneysavingexpert.com/tips).

The FIRST 50 people from that list to get back to me will win 2,800 points each.

You must send me a private message from the username account you entered the competition with. There will be no exceptions if between entering and winning you've changed your username or can't remember the account's password to access it.

The giveaway has a strict one entry per household policy and entries can be deemed ineligible without any explanation or notification.

How you'll get the points

If your name's picked and you're an existing toptable member, you'll need to include the email address you signed up with in your private message to me.

If you're not a member you'll need to register at toptable.com (it's free) then send me the linked email address.

This information will be forwarded on to toptable for the points to be added.

To aid administration, this won't happen until all 50 winners have provided their full name and toptable account details. So it may take a couple of weeks between the giveaway's end and actual receipt. This thread will be updated to let winners know when the points have been credited.
