Thanks INOD - just feeling a bit meh at the moment as there's so many things that I need/want (haircut, clothes, shoes, stuff for the house) but I don't feel like there's ever any spare money. Some things can wait but will definitely need to budget for shoes and undies soon.
I've got various things planned throughout the year - holiday to Morocco, hen do and wedding, all of which I'm really looking forward to but all requiring money. The car fund is at £0 and I don't want to end up in the same position as the last 2 years and having to put the insurance on a credit card. I'm also very aware that should something happen and I couldn't work for whatever reason, we would be completely screwed as we have no real savings.
I love my job but it can be incredibly stressful and being in social care, it's not particularly well paid. I know I can pick up extra shifts with my job and 2nd job which is good but a lot of the fights with OH recently have stemmed from the fact he feels like I'm always working and we don't always get to spend much time together. However, being the sole earner in the household I don't feel like I have a choice but to work as much as I can to cover everything.
Ach think I'm just over tired and needing a break. Thankfully I've got one shift left for my job tomorrow then a late shift for 2nd job on Wednesday then 5 much needed days off.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £106,033.77

That sounds rough at the moment. It is hard when there are so many calls on your money and just not enough of it to comfortably cover it all. It is always more difficult to think and everything can seem insurmountable when you are tired so hopefully the days off will help you relax and recharge.
I didn't realise until now that you were managing off a single income. That makes all the debt payments you have made even more impressive. Hopefully your OH can understand the pressure you feel, is there any possibility of him being able to pick up hours somewhere to help take some of the pressure off? Apologies if you have explained all this preciously and I missed it and please don't feel obliged to share details here.0 -
I also hadn’t realised that it was a single income making great inroads.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Thanks for your posts ChasingSunshine and INOD. Due to various health issues, OH hasn't been able to work for the past few years. He hates not working and it has a huge impact on his mental health not being able to but unfortunately I don't see him getting back to work anytime soon if ever. We get by and the debt is going in the right direction
but I feel like all I do is think about money (or lack of) and it does cause tension between us sometimes.
I've decided to go home to see my dad for a few days of the time off. It will cost money that I haven't budgeted for in petrol and other travel costs but I won't spend much once I'm there and I think the total break from everything will do me good.
Today has been another NSD plus paid £1 to the debt, £8.52/£55.27, 88% paid.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £106,033.77
