I can easily pay it off, but got screwed over for mentioning a reason they are against. that mistake has cost me a LOT of money.

    You weren't 'screwed over'. Lenders are allowed to set their own criteria.

    The honest answer. Lie on an application and get found out and you can end up finding it impossible to obtain credit.
