    answer = Goathland

    Goathland Station famously appeared as ‘Hogsmeade Station’ in the first Harry Potter film, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. Our Slytherin Prefect is available most Thursdays to transport you to Hogsmeade Station where you will learn about the Hogwart’s Express, disappearing steam trains, portkey sickness & floo powder amongst other things! Day 7- WIN a goody bag with Thomas the Tank Engine goodies - including a activity pack, card game and jigsaw!

    How long is the NYMR line from Pickering to Grosmont?

    Pretty sure the answer is A) 18miles.

    My only confusion comes from the fact that these days the trains themselves run through Grosmont and on to Whitby and all the info I can find about the length says the line is 18 miles long but doesn't indicate whether that is to Grosmont or to Whitby. I think it is probable that the NYMR bit is 18 miles and the extension to Whitby uses the national rail network track and not NYMR track, if that makes sense. (My teeny brain is "Advent" weary!)

    You are indeed correct!

    The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a preserved historic railway stretching for 18 miles through the heart of the North York Moors National Park, from Pickering via Levisham, Newton Dale and Goathland to Grosmont, with a further 6 mile extension over Network Rail’s Esk Valley line to Whitby.
