  • Another day, another refund. Quite complex but essentially I'm getting some money back on DH's xmas present, so when that hits I shall OP it. We also got the excellent news today that work is giving us a £30 voucher because the usual Christmas lunch couldn't take place. I shall be saving that for DS1's next growth spurt.
Took DS1 out after tea to look at the Christmas houses on our street. Almost a free activity except for the really REALLY lit up house which is asking for donations to the NHS. They will have a santa there on Sunday but I'm not sure I can stand the level of excitement that is likely to generate.

  • I have repaired my sheepskin slippers which had separated from the sole along the seam on one side of my left foot with something called shoe goo I saw recommended on fb. Then I put in my cosy new sheepskin insoles - total cost about £20 which is about £100 less than new ones would be. They are now extremely tight until the insoles bed in - which is how they are when new too. Not entirely comfortable but very warm.
I have joined Streetb33s to see how it works - waiting for my first story to be approved. If it works then the plan is to OP these little bits and pieces.

It's what Streetb33s calls their surveys.
  • End of year OP made to tune of £133.78 to bring total OPs up to one month off the end of the mortgage!

Happy New Year everyone. May it bring better things for all of us.
  • Also snuck in before the end of the month to buy £50 of PBs with Christmas money from DH's grandma.
  • Just popping in to say hi and Happy New Year

  • And to you @debtfreeoneday
I just opened a regular saver with Natwest at £50 per month (the maximum) as it's a whopping 3%... reading back through people's diaries and seeing the heady days of 5% seems almost unimaginable. Anyway, 3% is higher than the mortgage interest so it's worth it. I suspect by the time I've maxed out the account the terms will have changed so don't need to worry about that! This will come out of my personal spends budget. This normally goes entirely on books and I am going to try a no books year, except for work books, which I have a separate budget for.

Hopefully someone who was supposed to pick up a gtree sale before Christmas will finally come today for a huge £1 in and 1 item out of the house. I need to list some more stuff.

I still reminisce fondly about the 10% regular saver I had back in around 2007/2008 😍!
