Not sure if it's been reported earlier, but just seen the LG 42LF66 42" TV on the COMET website. Although it's a web only deal, you can use the collect from store option to get the superb price of £779. They also offer free devliery.

This is a bargain for a brand name 1080P 42" TV.

Why?!

The LG is actually 1080p, its resolution is 1900x1080, the Panasonic just scales 1080p down to 1024x768.

And the Panasonic is a plasma, which means you'll be getting nice and toasty sitting infront of it.

Yep, know you can get it cheaper from Laskeys, but for big items that could go faulty, I want to turn up at the shop with it, rather than having to fork out huge postage costs to return it (then having the nightmare trying to get the money back !!). Okay some websites will collect for free, but for £40 extra, I'd rather turn up at their door !

Yep, as the previous poster said, the Panny is not 1080P, so not a fair comparison !

The resolution isn't such an issue when you are sitting the optimum distance from the screen - when you're at the cinema, do you sit in the front seats or do you select a seat that is further away?

The plasma/LCD debate is long and convoluted but the consensus is that for larger screens, plasma is the way to go. Getting toasted in front of a screen would only be an issue if you've bought a screen that is too big for your viewing room - 42" in a small room is either plain daft or just a chav style statement:p

Sorry to off topic but another thing to keep in mind when considering a panasonic plasma is the average wattage use of almost 500w........:eek:
At least it would help you cut down on watching too much tv.......;)

But if you were sitting at the same distance at the cinema, would you prefer the 2000 lines of the digital projector or the 720 lines of non-full-HD?

The LG uses an average of 240w , the Panasonic an average of 270w (page 54 of manual)

I have the Panasonic and it dosent give off much heat, look at it another way it will save putting on the heating in the winter so you could actually save money
