I'm looking yuck

Seriously just seen myself in the mirror in good light, and it's not good :(

I'm looking dull, gray, saggy, - well tbh about 10 years older then I am :(

Just to add, I'm not well, got a lurgy type thingy and I'm all congested which I suppose isn't doing me any favours

So, quick fixes please. Ones that cost sfa as I'm totally broke and saving for a haircut :rotfl:

Could you make up a face pack with whipped up eggs, pamper your hair by leaving in conditioner with a towel on your head for a while, do a simple manicure?

I exfoliate my hands and feet by mixing lemon juice and sugar into a paste and it works really well.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  • Morning! Glad someone else if hanging out here too. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I don't really know what works for you but maybe think of doing something nice for yourself. Do you like baths? I don't especially but if you do, it might be a good way to take some relaxing time for yourself. You could use one of those facepaste masks to get some moisture into your skin, and while you're at it you can laugh at yourself in the mirror (in a kind way only, mind!). It sounds like you're a bit run down and need some self-TLC. Hope that helps in a small way. :)

I just got rid of the mirrors.

It's probably because you aren't feeling well suki. My skin is always dreadful looking when I've had a bug. Perhaps something to get your circulation going, like hot then cold water, or exercise once you're feeling better?
  • If it's a virus, don't even think about doing any sort of exercise. Concentrate on getting better - lots of Vitamin C, keep warm, lots of fluids, all the usual stuff. Quick fix - splash your face with cold water and brush your hair. And don't go anywhere near that pesky mirror again until you're feeling better.

Then, and only then, if you still feel that you look 10 years older, you can think about doing something about it.

    Lol ladies

Thankyou, you have made me smile :)

I usually avoid mirrors but the old top lip needed attention and the sky was really bright so I got a full on shock

I went shopping and got huge bottles of sparkling water. I never drink water, ever. Actually I only drink Diet Coke and the occasional black coffee

I've also hunted through the cupboards and I've found a clay mask I shall put on and I've a jar of coconut oil so will slather that everywhere

Funny, I always have good nails. This past week I've lost the lot on my left and the ones I do have left on my right hand, are flakey and all the nails are ridged and feel dry

I think this spell of extremely cold weather, on top of the lurgy, and going into warm stuffy atmospheres has taken its toll this winter

I do eat a pretty well balanced diet, perhaps not enough Vit C as I avoid fruit and veg really Perhaps I need to look at a supliment. I am after all midway through the menopause, I'm probably needing extra help :)

Oh, and I have bloody wrinkles, I mean defined ones, which I never had before !!! Lol
  • Nothing can quick fix appearance on the outside.
Can only be done on the inside by making sure youre eating enough vits and mins.

Epsom salt baths can be helpful too.

Of that I'm all too aware

Which is why so much of my post was tongue in cheek :)

Tell me that you have never looked in a mirror and thought ' wow scarey' or wondered why your mum was looking back at you ? :)

    Today I shall pamper

I was talking to a neighbour the other day, he is in his seventies but looks 20 years younger. I asked him how he has stayed wrinkle free seeing as he is a real sun worshipper and ex smoker (though many years ago).

He said he used to have more wrinkles but his partner who does massage etc apparently makes up a face and body lotion which he uses daily ..the secret ingredient cucumber! Apparently she squeezes out all the juice from a cucumber daily, mixes it with some cheap moisturiser and applies....

If it really is that that makes him look so young, I'm certainly willing to give it a go.

  • Try metatone tonic and iron supplements. Iron will strengthen your nails and the metatone will give you a boost of vitamins and minerals which your body will be lacking after illness. As someone else said there are no quick fixes for the outside. Your outer and inner beauty cannot live without each other, look after yourself from the inside and the outer beauty will follow :)
