SA302 & TYO Halifax Confusion

We have applied for an advance and we are self-employed, everything is inorder except that they are saying SA302 & TYO are not matching the bottom figure. Got all our SA302 &TYO sent to us from HMRC. The SA302 shows the Tax at £8131.95 and in the TYO also shows Tax £8131.95 then goes on to show Less Payments £1830.15 final Sub Total £6301.80. Halifax underwriters are saying the Tax is not matching despite all figures being there. HMRC contacted and they stated that the TYO has all figures and its self explanatory. How do we deal with such a situation?

Sounds like Halifax are saying you have a Tax Bill unpaid of £6,301.80.

Either this relates to 2014/2015 in which case why is the tax still unpaid, or to 2015/2016 when you need to settle it in the next 10 days and you can presumably prove you are in a position to do so.

  • We are aware of the bill £6301.80. The problem is that Halifax despite our sa302 showing £8131.95 Tax due and the TYO showing Tax £8131.95 at the top line and then showing £6301.80 after deductions say that they don't match. Whereas simple mathematics shows that £1830.15 which already has been paid is deducted. How can an underwriter miss such a calculation and how do we convince them?

I'd phone our BDM and ask her to tell them to stop being stupid as an "on-account" payment for the next year is automatically added to the year-end total, so it will always be accounted for on the TYO.

Check with the Lender again. Are we absolutely sure they simply have an issue with an outstanding balance on the tax bill?

I'd pay the tax and get a TYO with a £0 balance.

Otherwise, next thing you'll get (two weeks from the end of the tax year) is questions about the source of funds to pay the tax.

  • It is the £1830.15 which was paid last year which makes the total in TYO £6301.15 and not matching the £8131.95 on SA302. I am
Waiting for phone call from the manager.
  • Thank you, if I may ask what is BDM and where do I get the phone number?

    Our Business Development Manager.

As a broker introducing business regularly to a lender, we get a named contact.

Presumably, you went direct? You will need to use your usual contact details.
