Claiming extra NI credits for child care of grandchildren
Just saw this, I'm not in this group but thought it very interesting.

Does this mean the parent gives up some of their NI contributions to you how does it work, I'm about to look after my granddaughters two days a week and a couple of years ago I had them for various hours doing the working week while their mother worked.0

If the parent stays at home looking after the child and claiming child benefit they get NI credits. If they go back to work and are paying or credited with NI then the credits they would have received from child benefit can be transferred to the carer, they lose nothing.
If you need the credits get your calendar out, as in my previous post MrsM has saved almost £3K that we would have previously paid for class 3s. My wife looks after our granddaughter one day a week.
My son's partner gets Child benefit and pays NI through her employment
My wife claimed and received full credit for 2014/15 and 2015/16. She has been told to apply for 2016/17 in Dec "17.

I am surprised they do not carry out checks if claiming 52 weeks in a year !
