  • Can't say I have stumbled across these threads before but I would say you can be #2 though and not have a great deal of disposable income.

A millionaire will really vary depending upon if you are a northerner or a southerner.

Need far less to live comfortably up here after all.

I personally would aim for a variation of #1, to have £1m in cash/accounts/shares which are fairly easy to get access to if needed.

  • Hmm - I think a million is a million whether you're oop north or dahn sarf.

But you're absolutely right, that million would go a lot further up north (I'm a Yorkshire lass myself), so you would achieve the 'millionaire lifestyle' with less up here. But don't tell anyone - we don't want them all moving north, do we.

You are thinking too local with the question of whether it's better to live in the north or south of England to be a millionaire.

If the plan is simply to be a millionaire...

Convert your gbp's over to currency from Paraguay or Sierra Leone to name just a few. Most would be millionaires over night. Not sure about the millionaire lifestyle though.

If you are most of the way towards 1 million, move to America for a nice little boost. You would only need about 80% of the total at today's exchange.

Financial independence is definitely the goal for me and I know I could achieve that with less than 1mm GBP, but also think that even if I pull the plug on working early, I will still get to 1 million in my lifetime as investments continue to grow.
