It is only any treatment needed to sort the toothache out , providing the treatment is carried out by the same dentist .

So for instance if they can extract the tooth but it is too swollen on the day then they can bring you back to have the tooth out for the same fee. However if it needs surgical extraction or referral to have it out this would not be covered by the emergency band fee. Likewise if there is a hole you will only get a temporary filling.

Most areas will have emergency clinics running at some time during the week. You will pay just the emergency fee but treatment is just to relieve pain, so any fillings are likely to be temporary etc.

Dental hospitals may be able to sort your toothache out in a sit and wait clinic , but not every area has a dental hospital and not every dental hospital runs a free sit and wait toothache service .
  • Depending on which tooth it is and how easy it is to extract it at the surgery (as opposed to being referred to the hospital) it is certainly possible to get it removed on the NHS providing you find a dentist willing to do it.

Go and get it looked at - a lot of wisdom tooth removals are done at hospital anyway. I had to wait a few months for my referral, the sooner you go the sooner you'll be out of pain! It only cost me the check up fee.
  • I had a troublesome wisdom tooth (4 years ago). I saw my regular dentist who xrayed and said it would need extracting but it was too complex for him to do. I was referred to a clinic that specialises in wisdom teeth extraction who took it out a few weeks later.
I paid band 1 for the initial appointment and a course of antibiotics but nothing else.

If you register for jobseekers then, from that point onwards, you will be entitled to free care.

    '

Depends on which jobseekers - if it's contribution based you still have to pay.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
