Double-Edge and Straight Razor shaving

Are there any DE or straight razor shavers out there? I suggested this in response to a request for advice yesterday and it apparently wasn't well received. So was wondering if anyone else here has seen the light.
For those who haven't yet: compared with the eye-wateringly expensive cartridge razors advertised by gurning footballers they potentially cost much less day-to-day once you've bought the razor.
You can buy new razors or secondhand and vintage razors going back to the golden age when razors were top quality and made to last a lifetime or two.
They can be used with modern goo from a can or with traditional shaving soap lathered up with a brush of badger, boar or the new generation of synthetic bristled brushes.
DE blades are still made around the world and can be bought for pennies each. A DE shave will typically shave you closer than a cartridge and with less irritation. But you do need to take more care and use less pressure.
Save yourself a packet and learn to shave like James Bond

I think they are good but they are not the panacea they are advertised to be. I have an insanely course beard and I used feather blades on a merkur 12C. They couldn't cut it. Just got stuck. Sharpest blades you can get and nothing. Electric for me sadly0

Yeah Feather blades are a bit of an oddity -- only really work in a very mild razor like Feathers own razors. I don't know how aggressive the 12C is but have you tried any of the Russian-made blades like Polsilver, Rapira, Voskhod that have a good reputation for tough stubble? Worth a try if not.
I use the Merkur 39C slant for two or more days stubble and with a good blade it scythes through without any tugging. Good for everyday use as well.0
