Thanks Dolly and EH!
Don't wait too long to watch the Slum show, EH, as it's only available for a limited time. I will definitely look for the workhouse book, I'll put it on my library list later tonight.
Well it's hard to believe but with a little forethought and organization, I have already broken the back of the mess in the dining room, and it's only 1:00! I can't believe how long I have skirted around this and put it off, it seemed so intimidating! I cleaned out the small storage space in the corner and only put back in things that are going to stay there. Everything else that is still out needs to be put away somewhere else, sold or donated.
Except for the things that are waiting to be listed on ebay, I should have about 80% of the work done by tomorrow afternoon. I am piling the books up in the front room as they will live there once I've built the bookshelf, and I aim to have that done by the end of next week. I'll go through the books as I put them away to make sure I still actually want to read them. Any that I don't will go to the charity shop.
I have realised today that although Ebay is a wonderful thing and I like using it to buy second hand items, I've come to dislike it for selling. I will still use it for things we outgrow or no longer need, but once I've sold the rest of what I already have, that will be it. We don't have the room to store anything, and though I used to really enjoy it, I now find the whole experience to be nothing but a big PITA. I will look for other ways to bring in money in the new year, which may or may not involve a part time job. What a relief - the end is in sight! :j:happylove0 -
I've already downloaded Episodes 1, 2 & 3 via the Sky App - they will hopefully be sitting on the Sky box when I get in this evening!
I am right there with you on the eBay front - I loathe the entire process - from taking the photos to packing up the items. Ugh. I've got a few bits and bobs that have been waiting forever to get listed on there - they're not things i want to just throw, and there's a little too much value there to give to a charity shop who won't really appreciate what they have. They sit there, and glare at me, and I glare back, then ignore them for a bit longer! :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks, EH! I know just how you feel. My things are glaring from the other room so I have shut the door on them.
I've just scanned my first lot for Ziffit. It's nice to know I will soon be £11 richer but tbh it's galling to get 20 pence for something that cost over £25 just a couple of years ago. I could try and sell the things individually and probably get more, but I am trying to get rid ASAP so must accept that there is a price to pay for speed. It's better than nothing though, and it has taught me a valuable lesson about what kinds of things will be bought (or more like not bought) in the future. Luckily my husband is no longer that interested in video games and borrows ones he is interested in from his sister.
Today I have accomplished:- A massive sort in the dining room
- took a huge amount to the charity box
- Started a Ziffit box
Today I am grateful for:- A warm, dry house and plenty of good food
- the dining room job going so much quicker than expected
- Our lovely, lovely dog who gives fantastic cuddles and is always happy to see me

Hi Thistle,
Just caught up on your diary.
Well done for getting the dresser, it sounds fabulous.0 -
Oh I have never heard of Ziffit before, I know what you mean though with the whole 0.20p for something that cost so much.
But it is better than just throwing it away & every penny is better off in your pocket my sweet.

Ziffit is a new one on me, too - something like Music Magpie though I'm guessing? Something I always found with them though - the stuff that they're willing to pay a bit more for was often worth bunging on eBay - I sold a few CD's for a reasonable sum via that method!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks Pmo2, Dolly and EH!
Yes I should just bite the bullet and put them on ebay. I will look them up and see what kind of prices they have sold for, in case it's a huge difference.
Today has not been quite the whirlwind of activity I was expecting. I did manage to get rid of two large bags of books and do a bit of sorting, so am happy with that. I will have all morning tomorrow and most of Friday, so am still confident the dining room will be fairly done by the time we pick up the dresser.
I got a call from the optician that my glasses were in so trotted off to get them, which saves me going next Monday. In retrospect I should have just left it until next week but I was so excited to try the new lenses out. They are bi-focals (I couldn't get on with the vari-focals I had in the frames) and it is a revelation to be able to see again! Leaves on trees! Fish in the water! Dust on the shelves!
I am just making dinner now and will possibly get some ebay listing done later tonight. I received an email about a seller hub or something so will see how it all works, if it makes it easier than I'm all for it! There is still little interest on the things I have already listed, which is a bit of a downer. If they don't sell then I will take them to the CS on Monday.:happylove0 -
Hi Thistle
Just having a quick catch up as we have just got back from DS's parents' evening and have loads to catch up on before I can go to bed. You sound like you've achieved loads today. I wouldn't despair about the eBay - these things go in fits and starts. You might sell something for 99p this week and £99.99 next week!
And you've got your new glasses just in time to see your beautiful Welsh Dresser in all its pride and glory!
Will catch up later. xxLBM Jul 16 £26,823.83, Nov 16 £27,961.98, Dec 16 £26,977.66, Jan 17 £26,884.76

Thank you Smolly, it is great to be able to see clearly again! I've had the varifocals for awhile but they always made me dizzy so have been making do with an old pair of distance and an old pair of reading glasses, neither which are strong enough now.
I've been distracted today and wish I had held my focus better, but I know the dining room will be sorted soon and I am so excited. To think we can actually eat Xmas dinner in there on a table instead of sitting in the front room with plates on our laps! It's a disgrace that I've let it carry on for so long but that will all be over soon.
I hope you've had a good day xx:happylove0 -
It's funny how small changes like that can make such a difference isn't it!
Oh - meant to say - we watched the first two Victorian Slum shows last night and thoroughly enjoyed it! I do wish they were working in "real money" though as converting to modern currency doesn't quite work, for me.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
