CCJ's - Living with & Life After

Hi All,

I'm not sure if i'm in the right place to ask this question so apologies in advance, if so.

Cut to the chase, basically i've got myself in a royal old mess financially. Combination of relationship break up, everything that comes with it & burying my head in the sand not facing the problem head on, hoping it would go away. Ultimately all to my own doings. I'd sort of accepted that this was it for me. Couldn't really see light at the end of the tunnel so wasn't willing to try. So as long as I did what I could for my Daughter, that would be enough. However, a recent turn of events has given me the kick up the backside I needed and now i've had that wake up call. I'm at a loss as to what the extent really is and how do I go about correcting it.

The two debts in question have now both turned into CCJ's (June). The first is being repaid via Attachment of Earnings (Not ideal but final payment comes out of my wages this month) Second I was threatened with attachment of earnings but challenged it as I returned the CCJ form agreeing to pay the suggested amount but am yet to hear a response.

What i'd like to know is, is it possible to rebuild from this or will this three year stint of ignoring all of my problems haunt me for the rest of my life?

If there is a possibility to rebuild, how do I go about doing it? What are the steps required?

Any responses, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,

Dan

    Hi,

As far as I am aware you can only have one attachment of earnings order at once, if your unhappy with what the court has suggested as payment, you need to fill in court form N245 and put an amount you can afford on it !!!
After 6 years from date of judgement, both CCJ's will drop off your file, paid or not, and it will be like they were never there.

What is it you want to rebuild exactly ?

    Hi Dan

Well done at facing up to debts. It's confronting at the start but gets better. As Sourcrates says, your Ccj debts will fall off in 6 years, as will any defaults, even if you are still paying them, which is strange isn't it?

Before thinking of rebuilding credit rating (or did you mean something else?)l I think you need to look at getting your financial life in order.

Do you have details of all your debts? Contact any that have not got to Ccj stage and tell them you have financial difficulties and you are taking advice.
Any more impending CCj, contact stepchange and ask for help ASAP.?

If nothing else is pressing, do the stepchange on line debt remedy, be realistic about what you need to save for clothes and household repairs etc, use the stepchange guided figure if you don't know, and then see what they say about how to go about resolving debts. The. You can see which way to go. You could also put your SOA on here for folk to help you cut outgoings.

Do not go to payday loans, paid debt management companies or take out an IVA without taking further advice on here.
