  • Hi all,

I've been discharged a week and i've been accepted for a Capital One account with a credit limit of £200 (its a start i suppose) and i've had my application with Vanquis accepted initially so waiting to hear from them on that. Lets start this credit rebuilding train moving in the right direction.

Just been accepted for the vanquis too. £500 limit.

That's a good start, I've just closed my vanquis card as I've been accepted for something better.

How long did it take for that to happen?

It is over the 6 years, I've been accepted £3000 limit @ 20.9% but I didn't apply for any credit until just before the 6 years. I should have applied earlier but I didn't even conciser applying for anything
  • Ah right. I'm going to try and get my credit rating high as quickly as possible.

Does anyone know any other ways other than managing credit cards well to get back your credit file back on track?

You could apply for a JD Williams catalog, their prices and APR is very high but you can find lots of voucher codes online, you can get some good deals with the codes. They will start you on a low limit but if you pay on time it goes up quickly.

I hope it works out well for everyone. I had a Vanquish card and closed it 2 days back phew! I missed some payments then couldn't afford the charges . my limit was only £250 but at one point the balance was nearly £600 because of the charges. My fault but my point is get a card by all means but don't ever go over limit or pay late or it will mess things up even more. I don't mean to be patronising I know you all know this. Just didn't think I would mess up again and I did....

I had an email today from Totally Money about some Aqua 6 months 0% or something like that. NewDay hate me, so I didn't even apply.

Aqua (and presumably other newday cards) have a no bankruptcy in last 18 months criteria, so maybe worth trying after that
