Vanquis - it's going ok

Had a small increase from Capital One £1500 to £1750. Not brilliant but it's better than nothing!0

Did you request that? That's ok for the 6m stage. I want £1,500 after 6m but I doubt I'll get it! That lets me use it for car hire pre-auth plus some spending!
My friend requested online (account 11months old, stuck on £200 even though Aqua, Vanquis have raised limits). He was declined. Phoned them first and they refused to do it on the phone and made him go online
His credit to salary must be about 30% though - and he's got a recent default (approx 2 years old) so can see why they aren't too keen.0

I used the online system and requested it. I've had the capital one classic for 9m and the Ocean card for 6m. I'm gonna call them to combine the cards together to make one limit. I sent a secure message and they said it was no problem to combine. It will give me one card with £3250 limit :T0

            That's really good for a sub-prime card!
Hmmmm wonder if you now count as having 2 cards or one card on their system?? You could potentially try for another in a few months and get that merged too :rotfl:
Or, if it does only count as one now, at least you're leaving your options open incase they do any good deals etc (although it seems to be all Aqua with the deals at the moment!)0

I will merge them and try one of their soft checks...tbh I've only got 2.5m left until by BRU is removed so I'm hoping to get a normal card.0

It was quite easy to do the consolidation will take effect on the 9th of August. Ocean finance will close and one limit of £3250.0

Feeling please finally been acceded for a Normal card £3000 limit 20.9% APR significant improvement on my current 34.9% on capital one!0

Wow, that's a good starting limit, high APR but you should manage to get one better each time you apply for now onwards too Who is that with? If it's Nationwide, that's the APR I started on (£2,250 limit I think) and they literally hand out increases like confetti, you just request through online banking - no credit search etc done. How did the cap1 merge go? Does soft search let you open another one?
I've read some US forums, there was a lot of excitement when Capital One (US) started allowing cards to be combined (via account management too, none of this faffing around we have to do in the UK!).
As Cap1 are a more mainstream lender over there, there was talk of people rolling multiple cards into one good one (a Cashback one etc) as they let you open more than 2 over there... applying for another couple of cards, waiting 6 months and then doing the same again to roll the whole lot up! (Up to a max limit of $50k on one card!)
The UK site seems misleading on whether you need to have held you card for 2 months or 4 months to open another card (depending on where you click it says different things!). At the moment soft check says I fail 'on affordability checks'.
Planning to open a 2nd Cap1 as soon as it'll let me, request to raise the limit on my existing one ASAP (5 months time) and then merge them as soon as it'll let me too!! Then *try* and repeat so end up with one card with a relatively high limit (and hopefully pickup a Vanquis along the way)0

I didn't think 20.9% is to bad considering I've only been rebuilding for 10months. It's with Creation finance.
Hopefully in another 6months I can get a low rate card. Like Virgin 6.9%
For some reason the cap one merge didn't happen I've gotta phone them to chase it up. If I try the soft check I get the affordability thing as well.
I'm cancelling my vanquis card £500 limit at 39.9% seems pointless to have now!0

            Hi all,
I've been discharged a week and i've been accepted for a Capital One account with a credit limit of £200 (its a start i suppose) and i've had my application with Vanquis accepted initially so waiting to hear from them on that. Lets start this credit rebuilding train moving in the right direction.0
