I didn't get an email for several days after opening the Capital One cad and didn't get an email at all when I opened the Ocean card. I believe if it said accept £1000 you should be fine.

There really doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason with applications does there? I think I'll just stick with Vanquis & Cap one until the 6 year mark!
    SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65
    SPC 9 (2016) #485 TOTAL £84
    SPC 10 (2017) # 485 TOTAL: £464.80
    SPC 11 (2018) #485
  • I would think you'll get mainstream cards at the 'nicer' lenders (e.g. N/Wide) well before the 6 years if you are running Cap 1 and/or Vanquis well.

Cap1 haven't emailed me, but I got a text with my ref number and saying "Your account is being opened & we'll be back in touch in the next few days". Just hope they honor the credit limit & APR it said online!

Vanquis have told me to !!!!!! off.... again!!

I think you will find it very difficult to get a main stream card with a bankruptcy, it's almost always an automatic decline. My BRU only has 3m left to run, it's only reported on Experian. I have been able to get some main stream accounts as the only searched Equifax. I've been super lucky it's only on Experian!

I'd stick with Cap One for the time being and try and get Aqua Advance in a years time. Vanquis aren't much good I wish I hadn't bothered with them.
  • I just tried Capital One via the clearscore site and was approved for £1000 straight away. Frightening!
My credit record is diabolical with CCJa, BR and a repossession.
Let's see if it actually turns up!

Does seem that Ocean are happy to get what ever business they can get...ive only had my Luma a few weeks and whilst waiting for recovery truck, checked clear score as it updated Yesterday.

Usual crap about apply for this and that...Ocean said 90% chance...hmmm doubt that, click click click and £1000 offerd.

I'm going to wait and see...im not convinced it will arrive, saying that it let me set up a direct debit so who knows...lol
  • Email received today confirming acceptance to Capital One with starting credit limit of £1000!
  • Well done! Seems Cap1 are being generous this month, even if others aren't! My card appeared today, and it works!

I'm back down to 0% on all of the comparison sites though!

Although you can have 2 x Cap1 cards, I'm going to leave it at 1 (hopefully with an ever increasing limit) - then if they ever launch a new product, 0% etc etc - will be able to apply rather than being blocked because I've taken 2 x bog standard cards.

On the back of the welcome letter are the card t&cs - confirmed at 29.84% for me.

I would prefer Vanquis though as they seem more generous with their limit increases.

Both my capital one cards will be 6m old next week..I can ask for an increase online, will have to see if they are being generous with existing customers!
