House Purchase 'Completed': Credit Card Application?

Morning All,

As of a couple of days ago, I gave the go ahead for our solicitor to 'Complete' our sale and purchase. The move-in date is the 24th June. Our mortgage company (Natwest) noted a month ago that no more searches would be required (not sure on this)

At what point is it recommended to apply for a new credit card? My 0% on purchases deal is expiring in September, but would find it useful to clear the balance, close it down and start a fresh term. Particularly given the complications I have read about applying for new credit after moving house

Regards,
Stephen

We are also completing on a purchase next Friday and have been advised not to apply for any new credit before completion but post completion is fine as our lender (Halifax) can do additional checks up to the point of completion. I think any lender can do this and they don't always have to tell you?

    Just wait for completion!!!

When you complete you still have plenty of time to get a new card before september.

You only have 9 days I would say hold off and just get through the move - its not unusual for lenders to do a pre completion credit search
