Thank you Mila, he is very helpful and on board so understands that it's clever to be frugal, they do need looking after even if they don't say so a lot of the time (OH just clams up if something happens, usually).
Mum is having an appointment at the hospital today to discuss her results as some bloods were taken the day I went home last week. She's not been very well at all so it could be she'll have to come off the treatment. Will ring later to find out.
A bit miffed as someone gave us a neutral rating on fleabay and stated that while I was quick to dispatch and the item was great, there were 'problems in communication'. Listen, you bought something on the 23rd of April and hadn't paid when I wrote to you to prompt you on the 26th and when you don't reply after three days after that again, yes, I will be starting an unpaid item dispute! She paid up but a week late! Nevermind, had three good feedback this morning and that Neutral one is the only one we have, and no bad feedback either, so hopefully people will see that we are genuine.
Met my threshold at YouGiv so requested a £50 payout this morning and got a Sainsbobs voucher from Valued Opinions yesterday in the post so saving that for Christmas. I know it is 'only' May but I start saving for Christmas in January XD
Booked our train tickets today to and from Stansted today for when we visit my mother in July via T@pcashback and because I booked each leg separately I saved nearly £40 so very pleased about that ^_^Money owed [STRIKE](May 2016)[/STRIKE] July 2017 : Mortgage: [STRIKE]£83,775.72[/STRIKE] £80,189.95 Student loan: [STRIKE]£43000[/STRIKE] £38633.80 Family: £11500.:eek::mad:0 -
That's a good savings and the train fares! Go you!
Thinking of your mom!
I have so many to shop for I start Xmas savings early too. I could not do it otherwise. it is just so much nicer,at that time of year, when you don't have to put presents on credit cards.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

So Mum had an appointment at the hospital yesterday to discuss the results of the bloods that she took a week ago, and she is so unwell now that she was admitted and kept overnight for more tests. Very confused, she was seen by three doctors throughout the day and she didn't register they they were three different people. When I visited her from the 11th to the 18th she could still walk small distances with her walker and now she is not able to walk at all - when they were going to the hospital my brother had to come and carry her and put her in the car. That's such a big change in just a week we are seeing and my sister is wondering if the cancer may have spread to Mum's skeleton.
Feeling v v tearful at work this morning and had a good cry, manager sent me home. Not very MSE but feeling very flat today and a bit vacant. When I came home I went straight to bed and slept for two hours, so feeling a little less rough now. OHs friends are still coming over for the weekend so will go now and tidy and hoover the house. It probably sounds weird but tidying feels a bit therapeutic for me as having a nice and tidy house is v satisfying.Money owed [STRIKE](May 2016)[/STRIKE] July 2017 : Mortgage: [STRIKE]£83,775.72[/STRIKE] £80,189.95 Student loan: [STRIKE]£43000[/STRIKE] £38633.80 Family: £11500.:eek::mad:0 -
It's just heartbreaking to watch your parent become so ill and frail and to know its not going to get any better. I had to with my mother. You just feel so helpless because it's all so uncontrollable.
I'm glad you are staying busy doing things that make it all more bearable. There is comfort in a clean home.
It's good there will be friends this weekend.
Thinking of you today.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

I am so sorry things have become even more serious for your Mum. I hope you will remember to take care of yourself too, it is so stressful and exhausting.
Thinking of you and your Mum. Stay strong. XxGOAL - debt free (except mortgage) by October 2017.

Trying to stay calm at the moment. We had a great weekend for OH. I bought all the food we needed Thursday, hoovered and tidied the whole house Friday, Saturday morning before I went to work I cleaned and tided the kitchen and bathroom, Saturday night I prepared the food for Sunday's meal and I've been at work Saturday and Sunday. OHs friend stayed over from Saturday to Monday night and another friend and his new girlfriend came to visit us for the afternoon on Sunday.
We had some fleabay sales during this time and because I am at work today from 9am to 7pm (OH doesn't start work until noon today and works until 5pm) I wrapped the parcels, seven of them, last night and left OH a note to say he had to post them before work. I also rang him to check he'd read it before he started work. He wasn't pleased but as Monday was a bank holiday we couldn't do it then as the post office was shut. I wrote on the note that we needed Proof of Postage for them. We have always sent out fleabay sales second class and he asked me during the call if I wanted it sending second class and I said yes. He has sent things for me before and it has always been second class.
When I clock off for lunch I have a missed call from OH and a message stating that he hopes I wanted it sending second class signed for!!!!!!!!
Perhaps a drop in the sea and of no significance but at the moment I feel like I could cry, some of the the things only sold for 99p so with the Signed For it means that any money we made from the items has been eaten up by the damn postage. Anything we make from fleabay we have decided is going to a vacation fund so it's important that we get this right.
Just feeling so cross about it, I have worked so hard for this and during this weekend and I feel as though he is sabotaging me a bit with this behaviour. Need to try and stay calm and find out what happened at the post office and why in the world he decided to go with Signed For.Money owed [STRIKE](May 2016)[/STRIKE] July 2017 : Mortgage: [STRIKE]£83,775.72[/STRIKE] £80,189.95 Student loan: [STRIKE]£43000[/STRIKE] £38633.80 Family: £11500.:eek::mad:0 -

I know, right? Not to worry, things are a bit better now. I got in on Saturday and we had a long chat about it, and how hanging up on me when I try to talk about it doesn't help the situation or how I'm feeling at the minute. The weather has been lovely which helps so have got lots of laundry done. I was also super efficient yesterday and hoovered downstairs, did the dishes, cleaned the kitchen floor and wiped the counters before going to work at 1 (I work 2 pm to 7pm on a Sunday).
Today has been OK at work, people are finishing off work so they are actually working in the library rather than chatting and messing about, which helps my mood a lot. Got tomorrow off; BHF are coming to collect the wardrobe that is now too big for our new house so it will be nice to get it out to free up the space. I received a coupon as part of being on Bzz@gent for yogurts so will try and review those tomorrow as I got them after work today.Money owed [STRIKE](May 2016)[/STRIKE] July 2017 : Mortgage: [STRIKE]£83,775.72[/STRIKE] £80,189.95 Student loan: [STRIKE]£43000[/STRIKE] £38633.80 Family: £11500.:eek::mad:0 -
This weather we are having is just lovely! A shame it's coming to an end this weekend. OH is completely in disagreement, he hates the heat bless him and Tuesday and yesterday he came home bright red and hot and bothered. Hopefully he wont feel so incapacitated at the weekend.
I've been good and pegged out the washing before work this morning; I also made the bed, washed the dishes and wiped the counters down before going. I made breakfast for us both and I did some self employed work before work as well.
Tuesday they came and collected the wardrobe, so I hoovered and dusted the bedroom, changed the sheets and made the bed, hoovered the hall and the office, dusted the desk and the office shelves, hoovered downstairs, did two loads of laundry and hung them out and did my self employed translation work.
I bought food yesterday but didn't have the time or will to live to swing by the local Chinese shop to buy noodles so might do that today after work when I've posted my letter. My best friend back home and I write letters; it's so nice to receive letters and cards in the mail, so we keep that up.
I called my sister yesterday to see how things were. We have clearly identified where our stubborn streak comes from in our family as Mum, who was home for a short visit, managed to climb the steps to her front door. Of course she was completely out of puff then, and also had to be wheeled around the house, but she could surely walk up the steps so if they just wanted to discharge her there and then, that would be great XD
They are due to attend a meeting with the council on Monday to discuss what happens with Mum's care in the future. My sister is planning to explain to them that if they do intend to discharge her, then they must care for Mum adequately at home.
To illustrate, she was so jaundiced when they came to collect her for her hospital appointment that they admitted her immediately. If the care staff who look after her at home cannot see that, then they are either not qualified or they don't have the experience required. In addition to this, we have discovered that Mum has not had any pain relief since she was discharged from the hospital and send to the rehabilitation centre; that's a week and a half with no pain relief. So she was put back on this on Sunday. Mum doesn't ask for anything and doesn't want to be a bother, so it does make me wonder what happens to people who don't have family or friends who can advocate for them.:mad:
It belongs to the story that my sister is a nurse with ten years of experience who works in the community visiting people in their homes, and in addition to this she is the union rep for all the nurses in the county where she works.
You can immediately tell how people's attitudes and behaviour change when she says she's a nurse; they seem to pay more attention.
OHs parents celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary last weekend, 50 years of marriage, 5-0! What a feat! I am amazed my mother inlaw has not suffocated my father inlaw with a pillow, an iron will lives in that woman! (Don't get me wrong, OHs dad is kind and hardworking, just....very....dense.)
I was very MSE and used my Amazon vouchers from surveying to buy them a Botanist bottle of gin as a present from us. :money:
Must crack on and get more surveys done as I use the vouchers from them for Christmas, birthdays etc. I also won two things on the student raffle so once I have tried them I can review them on ci@o. They seem to have changed their requirements for suggesting products a great deal. Quite a few times now I have written a review only for the page to reject it. So now unless I can be sure it'll be accepted I only write about products already featured on the site. Anything I earn from that goes into our holiday fund.
I am also expecting a £50 payout from Y0ugov and £35 in PayPal from T0luna.:money:
Hope you are all enjoying the weather while it lasts. ^_^ Last Sunday at work this weekend for the summer (I work term time at the uni, so Saturdays and Sundays from October till June)Money owed [STRIKE](May 2016)[/STRIKE] July 2017 : Mortgage: [STRIKE]£83,775.72[/STRIKE] £80,189.95 Student loan: [STRIKE]£43000[/STRIKE] £38633.80 Family: £11500.:eek::mad:0 -
First off, I'm amazed by all you get accomplished.
Thank goodness your mother has you both to see to her care. It's really scary and sad for those who don't have someone to see after things. Your sister being a nurse is just so very helpful. Not only does she understand the process but she knows how to navigate the waters. Does she live near your mother?
We noticed water oozing up through the grout between the kitchen tiles this morning. I called my insurance company and plumber and got the process started. The agent ask if it could be ground water instead of a leaking pipe. I told her be had had .98" rain since the beginning of the year. Not hardly likely here in the high desert. $1000 deductible  but I have the money in my emergency fund.Overprepare, then go with the flow.
