No, you've been sacked for taking stuff from work and then lying about it when you were questioned about it.0 -
The other manager was not present at the disciplinary but As I didn't get told straight away I'm sure he was spoken to after. Why could the investigating manager not simply have asked me rather than investigating the matter and giving me a letter telling me I'm under investigation ,it all seems way over the top.0

Can't you see that's completely unacceptable?! You don't lie because you think a process will be unfair. You're mad to think it's unfair dismissal.0 -
Don't waste your time and money - you absolutely do not have a case. It doesn't matter that it was a small amount of goods. Or whether you forgot. They have no reason to believe you because you got caught lying twice in the investigation. That is game over - a clear case of gross misconduct. I'd have to say that most employers would have sacked you, and the dismissal is fair in law.
This was posted by a trade union employee whose speciality is employment law. If she thought you had the slimmest chance of a case against your employer, she would have said so.
You were dismissed, fairly! If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
The disciplining manager is much more understanding , I'm positive I've only been sacked because of what the other manager said.
Out of curiosity, if you were busy on that day and you forgot, why didn't you remember the following day...or the day you used what you ordered and then come clean?
Whatever your reasons or justification, you are a thief.0 -

Then why lie? It didn't matter what you said so why not tell the truth? All you did was made yourself look bad and made the whole situation worse.Bojanglesme wrote: »The other manager was not present at the disciplinary but As I didn't get told straight away I'm sure he was spoken to after. It's not way over the top. Suspecting an employee of stealing is a serious matter and the correct procedure should be followed. That means the incident needs to be investigated.
Claiming you did nothing wrong, making excuses and blaming them saying about a grudge isn't going to help. You made a big mistake, lied twice, got caught, lost their trust and they quite rightly sacked you. It's not their fault you didn't book the items out. Even if the manager did have a grudge against you if you'd done nothing wrong he wouldn't be able to do a thing about it.
You need to accept that you did something wrong and learn from it.0 -

It doesnt matter if hes had it in for you or not, the process was fair and you chose to lie, then lie again. He gave you the rope and you hung yourself.0 -

You were suspected of stealing from your company, and they followed due process.0 -
You should be taking the manager out for a pint.
This type of theft usually ends up at the magistrates court.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -

The person doing the investigation (he is a manager also) has questioned me before in regards to theft (only verbally) and I proved that I had booked the goods out so I believe he's been watching me and has a grudge against me.
Of course hes been watching you! If i suspected any employee of theft to the point of challenging them about it, i'd be watching them.
You stupidly gave them the opportunity to start an investigation and then lied, then lied again, what would you expect ANY manager to do?
OH, and when you saw the goods at your house did you not think "oh !!!! i didnt sign those out"?
Genuinely - you're stuffed. You "might" had stood a chance of not getting sacked if you hadnt lied, but lying then lying again - you're beat.
I know of a person recently pulled in for a serious disciplinary, who would have easily got away with a warning or written warning if they'd just went "oh !!!!, I didnt realise the consequences of doing X, sorry" but chose to lie and it was the lying and being caught out that got them sacked. Nothing senior management would do to save them as they'd lost all confidence in them.
Seriously - you're wasting your time with unfair dismissal. They followed due process, you lied during the interview and got caught out. Its game over.0
