Anyone know if the Samsung UE40H6400 is capable of picking up Soarview in Northern Ireland. I live close enough to the border to get the over spill. I've put the appropriate spec below. What confuses me is that it is a full HD tv but it is giving the DVB as DVB-T/C and I was under the impression you needed DTV T-2
DTV Tuner
DVB-T / C
Analog Tuner
Yes
MHP / MHEG / HbbTV / ACAP / GINGA / OHTV
HbbTV

Yes, you need a Freeview HD tuner, and obviously, a signal from a southern transmitter. That means that almost any TV you buy in a shop today is capable of showing you Saorview, if you're able to feed it the signal.
This is not the same as the RTE channels transmitted from our own transmitters (with certain programmes blocked).

You do not need DVB-T2 for Saorview. You need DVB-T2 for Freeview HD. You can check the Saorview website for approved products, though any tv that can do Freeview HD should display Saorview ok.

i have a UE40H6400 and yes, it picks up saorview. in the setup menu you have a choice of picking either saorview or freeview (can't remember quite exactly how it does this, i think it asks you what country you live in). If you pick the UK/freeview HD it includes some Irish channels in the EPG, however if you pick Ireland/Saorview it doesn't put many of the uk freeview channels in the epg (i.e you can have one or the other, but not all of the exclusively freeview & saorview channels at the same time.

as a matter of interest what do you think of the set. I've just bought one from John Lewis, it will be delivered in about a weeks time. Out of ten?

Well I upgraded to it from a 20 year old square tv, so really i'd have been impressed by pretty much anything! I am enjoying all the smart features, the interface is pretty quick, my only criticism is the sound is maybe a bit thin, but I imagine that's the case with most flat panel tvs. Otherwise i can't really fault it?

A sound bar makes a BIG difference, worth getting.
