Minor bug bear but it does irritate me slightly when a seasonal competition finishes on or after the date. EG win a Christmas Hamper filled with all you need to make your Christmas Day complete. Finishes on 25th December. Or, Win a large bouquet of flowers plus Champagne and Chocolates for your Valentine this Valentine Day. Closing date 14th February.

"Sorry love I haven't got you anything for Valentine's day because I'm hoping to win this prize of Valentine stuff. If I win I'll give it to you on the 21st February after they've sent it out to me.

This always happens! I have often received Christmas socks, stockings, selection boxes, crackers etc mid January so have just put them way until next christmas! Valentines pressies, Easter pressies are always disappointeing when they are recieved well after Valentines day or Valentines day! Wouldn't you think the companies/bloggers would rethink their end dates?

I won a Thorntons Christmas Chocolate Hamper - It was the Snowman and Christmas Figure Chocolates... It ended in January and all the items had less than 2 months of the use by date so guessing the company running the giveaway get it nice and cheap in the sale!

The ones that date-wise are daft, are the Christmas wrapping bundles- paper, tape, pens etc.

This year the ones on the mag dallies finished a few days before Christmas; in 2014 there was at least time to get them sent out and delivered for last minute wrapping! :D

as someone once pointed out these comps are like adverts, they want people to look at the prizes and then go out & buy them for the appropriate date

One prize I was more than happy to receive past the 'date' was a Hotel Chocolat Advent Calendar - it arrived a week into December so I had to open several doors all at once to get up to date :)

LOL well done! I was the same last January - a box of crackers and a Christmas dvd turned up around mid January. I put them away for 11 months!

  • I had to come back on - a package turned up today that looked awfully familiar... yup, it was the same again.
