Ours has been in the back cupboard for the past 10 Years along with the sandwich toaster. However they are good for making pastry but I tend to do that by hand these days.

I do use a hand blender occasionally to make soups with and a liquidiser to make smoothies with. We have recently been gifted a Nutribullet but so its still in the box. ;)

My cunning plan is to not put it in the cupboard so I have no excuse not to use it.

I plan to use it for hummus, falafel, coleslaw, pesto etc.

    I use mine to

-Make pastry. For some reason, i am rubbish at doing this by hand!
-Making dairy free ice cream. Just put some frozen bananas and some fresh strawberries (or fruit of your choice) in there, and whizz up.
-Making no bake bars. Look on Pinterest for ideas.
    -Making falafels and hummus.

Cheese grating is a good one!! Didn't think of that, I hate grating cheese by hand.

I use mine to finely chop or grate veg to add to bolognese sauces & shepherds pie. 2 onions, box of mushrooms, 2 peppers, celery all finely chopped super quick this eve so I got a sauce on the go for tomorrow's tea (& the freezer) whilst the kids had pudding.
  • A word of caution! Just be careful when taking it out of the box for the first time! I say this because, many years ago, when I bought my first one I hadn't anticipated just how sharp the blade was! I ended up with a very badly cut finger and blood over all the packaging! It taught me a lesson I can tell you and I still cringe when I think about it!

Things I use it for - pastry, crumble mix, grating cheese, making breadcrumbs, slicing/chopping veg mostly.

I bought one last year with my Christmas money.
I use it for making pastry - done in a couple of minutes.
slicer blade gets used a lot - cucumber, tomatoes, red and yellow peppers - even iceberg lettuce (which I am not fond of but usually the only one available in our little corner shop), radishes - all beautifully thinly sliced for salads. slices cabbage perfectly for coleslaw- then I change to grater for the carrots.
veg - I use the slicer for veg for the slow cooker. for stovetop stews I prefer it chunkier so just whizz in the main bowl until its how I want it.
I also used it to chop up rhubarb for jams and chutneys or to stew for rhubarb crumble.
it also gets used to mince (blitz in the main bowl), chunks of belly pork and pork mince and the onions for faggots. I used to spend nearly all morning doing this with a hand mincer - now its all done in ten minutes and they are in the oven!
I love mine and even though it has to live in the spare bedroom, due to lack of space in the kitchen - it still gets used most weeks.
