Hi Mibd, Just thought I'd say hi, and find out how you are getting on?

  • Hi there kirtsy,

Truthfully? I was wallowing in panic and just making things worse! I totally fell off the positivity train and freaked out!!!

After getting to a very, very low point I decided that the only time I'd felt good lately was when I was here being proactive so I've made another payment to the credit card today. Only £8 but still £8.

I've been thinking a lot and the reason behind my panic is that I've put too much pressure on a QUICK resolution
It took me a year to make this mess, I need to allow myself a year to get out of it at least or I have no margin for error or emergency.

So until I stop reacting with panic I'm going to focus on making minimum payments PLUS whatever I can save during the month. Trying to disappear huge chunks throwsme into the overdraft, then I lean on the card and round and round it goes!!!

I'm great at financial stuff normally, it is the panic of being 'found out' that is crippling me. I'm desperate to tell the truth but know I can't safely do so. So doing my best to reduce to damage is the only way.

    Positives to focus on:

    1. I came back
    2. The raise in amount owing in signature is due to whomping overdraft with monthly pay and being determined to keep above 0.
    3. My mortgage is covered always and I can make minimum payments with ease, not everyone is so lucky.
    4. I have an emergency fund.
    5. I can afford to eat and the kids have all they need.
    6. The worst that can happen is that my deception is discovered. He might leave me but at least I won't be a liar any more. I've got to trust that the right thing will happen.

    Hi mibt,

You are right in that coming back is a big positive! The forum is so supportive, and such a massive help in stressful times.

Anything you pay over your minimum payments is money you will never pay interest on again, so try and think of every payment like that. PADing has made such a huge difference to me - I tend to PAD amounts I would have spent on other things. So if I go out and have budgeted £10 but only spend £3, the other £7 goes to a PAD - doesn't wreck my budget as the amount is already budgeted it just forces me to really analyse what I want compared to what I need and cut back on spending.

I completely understand what you are saying about being impatient though, I'm exactly the same but you are looking at it the right way in that you didn't get into debt overnight so you can't get out of it that way either!

Good luck! You'll soon be back into the swing :)

  • Feeling much more positive today and two good things to report. First, customer has forgotten that I'm not working between Christmas and New Year so I've decided to go along as expected and will pay the extra that I earn off credit card since wasnt expected.

Also, hit my £20 on Inbox pounds without spending a penny so going to request a cheque and start again. Need to ramp up my swagbucks activity again as make great progress there when focused and is a great distraction from worries! X
