Trainee Accountant

Hi guys, I have recently started a new job as a 'trainee accountant' for an accountancy practise who will fund my studies for AAT Level 3.

I am on apprentice minimum wage for the first 6 months (3.30 ph) and after 6 months they said they review your salary and usually give you a payrise.

I know its impossible to say for definite but does anyone have any similar experience and have any ideas what I should roughly be expecting? I realise it depends on a lot of different factors but I would be grateful if anyone had any rough estimations.

If it matters I am 18.

Cheers guys

  • Are there any other trainees/ex-trainees you could ask?

What is the going rate for a trainee accountant in your town/city?

I wouldnt get too hung-up on the short term whilst you are learning. You'll get there.

    Thanks for the reply.

There are a couple of other trainee's there at the moment so I shall ask them when I know them better haha.

Not too concerned with salary while I'm learning like you said but I'm more curious than anything
  • Fair enough - keep going with it, accountancy is a very interesting and useful area to work in. I never got to the end of my studies (wish I had but now I have a young family) but am a finance manager for a FTSE100 company and it is very interesting.
