Some help with my food stash

Hi everyone, due to a couple of reasons (redundancy and my freezer needing defrosting) I'm trying to use up my food stocks. I've got some ideas as to what to cook but I need help with some of it. I'm not a baker at all and I have to follow a gluten free diet for medical reasons.

Here are the bits I have that I'm stuck with as to make something with:
4 tins of pureed pumpkin
1 tin of aduki beans
1 jar of jalapeños
1 tin black eyed beans
2 tins of chopped tomatoes (I know I can make pasta sauce but in case someone has any other ideas)
1 tin carnation caramel
A carton of custard "only" 4 years out of date :rotfl:
Turkey mince (frozen)
Frozen chopped lamb
Frozen lamb pieces (4)
Bag of frozen mixed veg
Bag of frozen peas
Quinoa
Rice and rice pasta
Red dried lentils
Yellow split peas (using some of these tomorrow for soup)
Rice
Frozen fish that may be edible - it's been in there for at least two years
1 packet soft dates - I think I was planning on making gf flapjacks

I have lots of stock cubes and flavour pots as well as a vast array of herbs and spices. I have some cornflour and tomato puree as well.
I'm going to the veg market tomorrow to get a few bits as I found some diced venison so will make a casserole out of that with a bunch of veg.

Ideas most welcome! I don't like Indian curries due to the cumin and some other spices, but otherwise am happy to try new things. I just need inspiration if you wouldn't mind indulging me. Thank you in advance.

4 tins of pureed pumpkin - pumpkin soup? (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/9191/pumpkin-soup/ or http://greatist.com/health/awesome-weird-healthy-recipes-canned-pumpkin)

Frozen chopped lamb - casserole or lamb stew/hotpot/pie/as shepherds pie

Frozen lamb pieces (4) - casserole, stew, roast, as shepherds pie...

Frozen fish - with peas? any potatoes?

Turkey mince (frozen) - chilli? turkey meatballs in a spicy (jalapeños?) tomato sauce?

Bag of frozen mixed veg - chuck into casserole or stew

Bag of frozen peas - in a pasta bake with tomatoes and tuna, or casserole, or with fish and wedges

2 tins of chopped tomatoes - chilli, pasta bake (in place of white sauce - good with tuna or mackerel)

1 tin of aduki beans - in casserole

1 jar of jalapeños - pizza? Dunno, use them a few at a time on nachos with LO chilli?

    Red dried lentils - casserole

Yellow split peas - as above - or as you say, soup.

1 tin black eyed beans - Hoppin' John - a traditional american (southern) new year meal - basically bacon, beans, and rice (http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/hoppin_john/)

Quinoa/Rice/pasta - carby sides for the above

1 tin carnation caramel - there's a huge number of recipes here -https://www.carnation.co.uk/recipes/Search/Products/3/Caramel-Banoffee-Filling I might suggest ice-cream

A carton of custard - stewed fruit - pears/apples, or banana? I can imagine combining this with the caramel and banana to make some unholy banoffee truffle...

1 packet soft dates - combine with the caramel/banana/custard thing, or maybe lean more towards proper sticky toffee pudding - with GF flour

I'd suggest you need onions and potatoes - for stew, wedges and the like, plus I don't know if you're into tuna or bacon?

EDIT: it just occurred to me I'm not sure if you mean you're not a proficient cook and would like some recipes?

    If so, shout out.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

  • I'd be making soup with the pureed pumpkin, but here are a load of recipe suggestions.
    http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/articles/50-canned-pumpkin-recipes.html

Jalapenos, keep the jar in the fridge once opened, and use whenever you would use chilli in your food, just chop up and use instead of fresh or dried chilli. I add to pizza, chilli con carne, spag bol (I like it spicy), taco chips layered with spicy tomato sauce and cheese melted in the oven for 5-10 mins, curries...and I eat them whole as well, usually with oatcakes and cheese and a little bowl of olives.

Lentils...use in soup, make a dhal, thicken up stews and casseroles.

    Aduki beans....curry, stews, salad.

Thank you both for the ideas. I'm fine with cooking so will look up recipes online. Found a tub of frozen cheese sauce so I can use that for a turkey mince lasagne :)
