OT went well yesterday, sometimes I wonder why I put myself through it... It like a form of torture as it's 6 hours added to my normal shift, in a different role... I'm still fairly new to this area (although had many yrs experience in another organisation) so I don't always know policies/storage and processes, but it was good positive outcomes.. confidence building rather than thinking I'm a too old to keep up with the cool kids.

I know next months salary will be robust enough to OP what I hope :D

Starting the month will not many plans... won't be off for another 8 days, but then have 2 consecutive weekends off.... vaguely remember a "date night " planned with OH as we never seem to get dressed up to go out these days, but I won't hold my breath. So 1 night planned in 31 good money saving I would hope.

I won the @irbnb challenge (of my own making) :D

Because a guest booked for 1 night in a weekend in August ages ago it worried me that we'd miss the summer market, so I flipped settings to 2 or more nights.

We now have a 12 night booking starting next week, then when they go a Monday night booking. Slightly apprehensive as 12 nights 2 people, in the room above us... but it's all a learning curve.. we will be thinking of car loan disappearing in August not October :D

We then have a 5 night booking and a single night early August.. 3rd week July vacant and last week of July we've blocked a both of us on night duty, and half of August and September blocked too for Holidays and uni.

All money totals will look accurate on Monday after interest and todays payments are accounted for... excited for next week :D

    6 month review

6 months into the year we have OP'd £4121.20 to the mortgage
    Total capital mortgage reduction £9352 :T :T
    Interest paid £2074.08

Juggled the car loan to the CC onto 0% £5640 , leaving £1359 car loan on 4%.. with planned extra income from @irbnb plus my standard payment and OP due to CC reduction, will mean car loan gone by 2nd August. :T :T

August also means my OH's 3 year debt completed, this added to car money means September will give me an extra £330 to put to our mortgage which should continue month on month...

We have bought extras, such as pool, finished gardens (they are only small), and saved for DD2's uni. We have just had a very spending 24hrs in Manchester, so have no problems treating ourselves when needs must.

We haven't got much cash to hand... savings around £3k... I'm hoping we can leave July with this intact.. OH wants a holiday in September I'm just not sure... When car loan completes @irbnb will either be saved or mortgage.. would like a £5k savings pot at least. Our boiler was playing up last year and sometimes needs relighting, think preparing to replace it will be necessary.

    Total debt £180,449
    Savings £3000

oooo OH extra job money next week, plus lodger, plus @irbnb will mean total debt will go under £180k :T :T :T

MvM...@irbnb has been fantastic for us. I have a bit of a love*hate relationship with it.. think because I'm generally home of a night and I can hear people above me. Our lovely French guest leaves Sunday. She has been so quiet... New guests due Wednesday will be 2 for 12 days.. mmm twice as many people to make happy... our best guests tend to be the private ones who basically say hello and goodbye :D:D :o

What a great update and it must feel good to see money "snowball" as you pay off something and can use the money towards the mortgage.

Thank Kate, snowballing is giving us it's rewards however its strange to be planning to "keep" the CC for the time being. Logic and higher interest bank accounts :D

Not off work until Saturday so over my personal hump day :D

Internet by Vodafone has been off for 24 hrs. Problem at the exchange. I can't bare the thought of another moany phone call. But DD2 has used all her phone data and sounds like a petulant child begging for wifi. I have reminded her of the atrocities in the world and she realises she is being ridiculous
