Ex - Pat Tax rebate ...is this true ...??

Hi there


I wanted to get some help on something that has just come to my attention. I have been one of the lucky ones and emigrated to lovely Australia ( don't hate me ). Someone has told me that I am entitled to claim back some monies form the UK tax office


I have only left the country in August 2015, prior to this I have always been a resident of the uk and I have been employed via a company who paid my taxes for over 30 years


Can someone advise if this is a) true and b) more importantly how I go about claiming this money ?

iF you did not normally fill in a self assessment tax return then complete a form P85 as advised here

what you will get back will likely be based on your income from April to August, tax due and tax paid. If PAYE you will likely have overpaid some

You may of course owe tax in Australia on items that would be free of tax here such as investments in UK pension plans and ISAs.
