For conservative read fearful.
Anyone of a certain age is haunted by the IMF, unburied bodies, uncollected bins and all the rest.
I have feeling that fear will largely die off with the boomers and their now irrational fear of left of centre politics.0 -

The "boomers" (a phrase to avoid really, as it pigeonholes the user as someone who dislikes a whole generation based on when they were born) have far less to fear from Corbyn than today's youth do. Baby boomers are at or near to retirement age. It certainly wouldn't be them picking up the tab by paying higher taxes on everything they earn for the next 50 years. Ironically they may even do pretty well out of it as pensioners are more likely to be net takers than net contributors to the pot. It's the students & the 20-somethings who should be howling in fear at the thought of future left-wing Govts & the high taxes they always demand.0 -

The boomers are net takers alright. Some of us would like to stop giving.
Under Corbyn, those with the broadest shoulders will shoulder the widest burden.
The boomers had better be ready to saddle up.0 -

Immigration would triple, the sponger class double, the new housing soon gone due to massive influx of people, tax rises for most workers to fund the !!!!less and ooman rights manipulators. Enjoy.0 -
I'm not a boomer I work hard, pay taxes and am a nett giver.
Under labour (pre corbyn) I would have been poorer due to paying even more tax than I do already. I fear Corbyn will want even more of my money to give to other people - how is that fair to me?
My relative wealth aside: socialist and left wing policies have proven time and again to make nations and everyone in them generally poorer as business, entrepreneurship, enterprise and innovation suffer, exports become uncompetitive, currency weakens and vital imports become ever more expensive. How would this be good for anyone?
Sure the gap between rich and poor may reduce but it will be achieved by making everyone poorer - is that what you want?Left is never right but I always am.0 -

Er. No.
Norway. Denmark. Sweden. The Netherlands. Germany. France.
Countries with distributive socialist and statist economies that are wealthier, happier and more sustainable than the UK.
Corbyn wouldn't even be considered left wing in much of the continent.
I will hand one thing to British people. They generally appear to enjoy being under the cosh and have some kind of pathological need to be looked down upon. They also usually vote for the governments most likely to accommodate that. So im sure the conservatives will be around for a while yet.0
