Solicitor's Letter

Hi, received a solicitor's letter a week or so ago requesting payment for some retrospective permission on a property leasehold for his client the leaseholder. If I paid before his deadline there would be no action taken so I paid it in full promptly. This being done, I then received another letter from the solicitor asking for payment of his fee. Am I legally responsible for paying his fee or it it his clients responsibility even though in his original letter he made no mention of me having to pay his fees?

The other party instructed the solicitor, they should pay. You might want to send a letter to the solicitor to that effect.
Something along the lines of "I did not instruct you to undertake services on my behalf; there was no mention of paying your fees in the costs that you stated that were payable on behalf of your client. To request payment from me after the event is frivolous and I do not entertain your claim."
Unless of course the agreement you signed originally (which lead to your debt) mentioned anything about the other party seeking to reclaim fees in the event of having to chase monies. nut then, these costs should have been included in sum of monies being chased by the solicitor at the time.0 -
Thanks CalumHeath. I do that.0

In other words, the solicitor 'forgot' to include his fee in the original letter to you, and is now trying to make you pay for the mistake.
Do as is suggested above."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
