wow that is some wish list was thinking of doing one myself for next year (was thinking about 10 items) will you carry anything over to next year or do you start a new one.
like others I am happy to win anything, would be interesting to see how you have done at the end of the year, good luck xx0 -
I admire your optimism. The reality is far far different. To put it into perspective, I entered 8,000 Competitions in 2010. I won 5 things. The average win rate is 1 in approx. 1500 entries. If there's 100 items on your list, then you need to be entering 411 Comps a day to be on target. Good luck with that one !!
No it isn't, it WAS 3000/1 more than a year ago, and with recent self promotion encouraging people to jack in work to comp it's going to rise more than it already has given FB shares and the like expanding a lot in the time since we did that experiment.
To put it simply, 100 comps a day used to net people average 1 win a month. Some were lucky, some less so, but average was that. Try it, keep a record. We could use a new figure.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
As for that wish list. You will certainly be dead before you get a quarter of it. You seem to have sucked up the nonsense from TV from someone who won 250k , but over more like 20 years most of which were years with far far fewer entries. Someone who gave up a job to comp, but not really, gave up work to work for a comping publication more like. As for taking orders for 3 wins in a month? I could hear thousands of people laughing as I watched that nonsense. Total rubbish.
The "low entry" competition is a long gone dream, with a few exceptions like local ones and very new unpublicised companies, especially when someone encourages people in a book to enter them..obviously.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Good luck with that :rotfl:0

The simple way to get an idea of the chances in a random draw is just to look at the number of entries/prizes (and how many entries you have if more than one is allowed).
From this thread
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4472983
the odds of winning were approx
109 to 1 a Bradley Wiggins cycle jersey
400 to 1 a pack of 4 AA batteries
1,256 to 1 a £2 shower gel
1,990 to 1 a pair of diamond earrings
26,000+ to 1 a wilderness adventure to Ontario
33,000+ to 1 for a £100 Home Bargains voucher0 -

On facebook it's sometimes easy to see the odds, but often there is another thing in play ...they don't want compers winning stuff, they want "real people". In fact some twitter and blog comps have stated this clearly. You can assume some are going to be win by their uncle or an employee, and some just don't exist at all. Then there's the cheats on things like twitter using bots to gain more entries.
The only real way to check the odds is to make a record of what you do and what you win..and what type for each win.
How big a pillock you are prepared to make of yourself is part of some comps too. These are often called "effort comps". Some days the ability to post at length about how sick you are, or a recently expired relative can trump a normal entry like "liked and shared" too, it just doesn't cut it compared to "I need to win a set of ceramic saucepans because I have terminal nostril cancer and my second cousin twice removed was just run over by a traction engine" .Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. To answer a question. I always carry my wishlist over and will add some extra things that I would like to win that year. Last year I had 95. things on my wishlist I think and achieved 29. I copied and pasted the wishlist from 2014 for this year and removed the 29 I achieved and added a load of extra prizes. I'm trying hard to achieve my wishlist this year.0

Good luck to ya, I would be a very happy person if I won half of your list

your list is very greedy to be honest. everybody comps hoping for one nice big flashy prize like a tv or a big cash win but you seem to think you are just going to get every single thing you want within a year! Some of them are just little things you would pick up while shopping... crisps? beer?2014 Wins - Bad Grandpa dvd - 4 Duck legs from an online butchers - A great christmas onesie - A new laptop computer!
2015 Wins - Smartphone, £3000 crossword prize.
2018 wins - £2000 , Ipad0
