Not at all.
Just hadn't seen the original letter you posted. SC is right that it's very out of date, and much of it now is just plain wrong.
Better to just remind the creditor or the facts that the agreement is unenforceable by a court while they remain in default of the request, and don't ad lib too much beyond that basic fact,Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Ah I jest Fermi, yours, Sourcrates and others knowledge, advice and helpfulness is always much much appreciated
Thank you!
Out of interest, do you share the same opinion as SC that I should not make any offers to pay these debts?0 -
Out of interest, if I do not pay the debt, the default drops off my credit file, and I start rebuilding my credit, in a few years time when I apply for a mortgage, would I still have to declare these?0

only if it specifically asks on the application which most dont. even ones that do usually specify within so many years, not have you ever on defaultsStill rolling rolling rolling......

I realise I wont need to mention the defaults, but would I still need to mention the debts?0

Does anyone know the answer to my question at all please?0

Depends on the Qs the lender asks on the application. They vary, although I must admit I haven't checked in some time.
May still be some lenders online where you can view the application Qs?

Thanks Fermi, I will take a look as if it is the case that they do ask, then regardless of whether I am in a strong position not to pay it off; if it is going to affect a future mortgage application then paying the debts would imo be the sensible option. The DCA's not having a CRA for the debt would at least put me in a strong position to make a settlement offer of low value, as some would be better than none, especially as the DCA is likely to have paid peanuts for it.
Once I am back in the UK (I've been working in France since the 2nd, home on the 19th) I'll be sending the letters posted previously.0
