You can win a Scholarship worth £3,000 to help further your career and to have your own exhibition in our gallery at the Royal Bath & West Show with the opportunity to sell your work. A second award of £250 is also available
TERMS:
1. The object is to encourage young artists. The award is open to practising artists
in the UK between the ages of 21 and 30.
2. The scholarship of £3,000 will be presented in two halves, half on selection and
the remainder presented at the Show following a satisfactory exhibition. A
runners up award of £250 may be presented at the discretion of the Committee.
3. Subject: Rural Life in the UK – landscape, community, eco issues, agriculture,
environment. Photography as a medium will not be accepted.
4. Applicants are required to submit six images of their own original work on CD
with the official entry form (please ensure that you complete both sides). Each
image must be identified with the name of the artist, number and title. A
stamped addressed envelope must be enclosed for the return of your CD.
5. The selection panel will choose a shortlist from the applications and the artists
will then be required to bring a selection of their original works, together with
drawings and a work programme, to the Showground, Shepton Mallet, in
September 2016 where the final selection will be made. The candidate chosen
for the award will be expected to meet the Committee to discuss his/her work
programme.
6. Before the exhibition in 2017 the Committee will judge one work which will be
donated to become part of the Society’s art collection.
7. All works hung in the exhibition should be available for sale. These are subject
to a 20% commission + VAT payment to the Society.
