UPVC "Doctor" or new UPVC

Hi all, just looking for recommendations or advice from anyone who has had a similar situation.

Ever since I moved in to my house 6 years ago, I have never been happy with my windows. There are gaps in the black sealing strips, the white sealant is black with mould, I can hear everything that goes on out in the street and the heat loss is unbelievable. One of the panes had already broken down and was misted, another one is starting to go.

I got a quote at the end of last year to get new frames and panels installed, £3000 for a 3 bed semi (approx. 8 windows and 2 doors) which I didn't think was too bad.

I saw an advert on facebook for a UPVC doctor, who will fix problems, replace parts that need replacing, and clean up existing UPVC for a fraction of the cost of new. He seemed to have a lot of good reviews, and was nice on the phone, knew what he was talking about. So I have asked him to visit and do a quote on what needs done.

so my question is - Has anyone got anything like this done before? is it a good idea, or is it a false economy, would it be better to spend the extra and get brand new ones in?
