  • Forgot to say above - we are expecting our third child to be born next month (possibly not the best moneysaving action!).

I have managed to decorate the nursery at no extra cost. I used paint that we already had (magnolia as we don't know whether it is a boy or a girl) and the cot is the one we used for its siblings. At least that was one expense saved!

  • It's Payday!

    £50 paid off Natwest card.

    Brought lunch into work.

It won't be an NSD as I have to pick up some steak for dinner tonight (Steak and homemade chips - yum yum) but I am only buying the steak as all the other ingredients are at home.

  • New month, new effort!

Did not have the most frugal of weekends due to the need to buy two toilet seats, a pair of gate hinges and some roofing felt!

I am getting back on it though and am making an extra payment a week so have today paid £70 off my Natwest card.

I have also applied for a new job that is higher paid. The role is a bit out of my comfort zone in terms of what it involves but I would like a new challenge and the extra money would be helpful.

I am still waiting for my wife to give birth. Not sure that a new baby will save us any money but I can't wait all the same!

  • Had a job interview today. It went fairly well and I think I gave a good account of myself although you always think of ways that you could have answered better. It depends now whether one of the other 4 candidates is considered a better fit for the position. I am glad that I went for it though as over the weekend I was quite nervous about the interview and almost let my nerves get the better of me and pulled out!

  • Aiming for a no spend day today! Have brought packed lunch into work.

Also someone has brought cakes in for their birthday meaning that I won't be tempted to nip out to the shop for a treat......

  • Aiming for a No Spend Day again. I am having last night's sausage casserole for lunch which should be good. Have also paid an additional £50 off my Natwest card.

  • Didn't get the job! Apparently I was second choice (out of 5 applicants) so I am not too disappointed. It has also given me some good pointers as to what I need to do to get similar roles in the future.

Never mind - I am aiming to have my third NSD in a row today. Looking good so far!

  • Hi you're doing really well. I was wondering though if you have given more thought to your SOA as I know you are paying extra as and when you can but its good to identify where you can save on monthly expenses and with the baby coming too it might be a good time for an overhaul.
  • Aiming for NSD number 4 today. Lunch brought in. I think that I will eat it outside by the lake as it is lovely and sunny.

Thanks for the support and the advice Keeping Motivated. I do need to have a look at my SOA and find some other ways to make cuts.

  • Hi I am back!

My wife gave birth to a boy at the end of September and I must admit I have been otherwise occupied and not that good in terms of money saving over the last six weeks. It has however been great welcoming the new addition to the family!

I am however back on it. I have had three NSD's this week and have been remembering to bring my lunch into work.

My tasks for the next 7 days are as follows:-

    1) Prepare SOA
    2) Look at utility bills and do some switching.
    3) Bill clients for some consultancy work that I have done.

If I do all of those three over the next week I will be a happy bunny!
